The Kershaw Spline is Awesome!

So my Spline arrived today, and my first impression is that it's a very well done knife. Mine seems to be right in the sweet spot on the spring tension, it's easy to close one handed, and the detent seems right on.

I was initially surprised by how thin it is, but it's very solid. I love the George blade shape, the thumb jumping is perfect. Mine is centered, and I'm a big fan of deep carry clips and this doesn't disappoint.

I much, much prefer this over the cryo 2's, but I'm still sticking with the Strobe as my #1 budget Kershaw. This Spline is in second place though. Well worth the $32.

Awesome man glad you like it!

I don't believe the OP was being unreasonable when he asked what he did. It is his thread and he can ask to steer the thread in the direction he likes. Is it against the rules here to say what you want? No it is not, however it is common courtesy to respect the wishes of the OP.

You are more than welcome to start your own thread about whatever your thoughts are on this market and why a company should do what you think they should. Just don't get mad when someone comes to take a crap in your virtual driveway because they have different views.

That being said, I think it looks like a nice budget alternative and street price as mentioned is around $30-35 so I can't really see where you're coming from.

Thank you!

The Spline is $35.

I just went to everydaycommentary's database of old reviews and pulled up the injection from 2013 and the veto g10 and one of the Emerson's from 2014...

Guess what...

All 3 were $35 at the time.

Just because you found a crown or a nura on supersale at a big box store for $20 doesn't mean that was the standard.

In fact, when the starter series (all 3cr knives) came out, Kershaw was touting how they finally hit the $20 price point.

So that you for making me look into it a realize the claim that Kershaw's were $20 two years ago was total bullshit.
Burnt.

Have a few budget Kershaws and all are made very well.
Great EDC knife for the budget conscious buyer

Glad you threw those pics up, Ben. That's a very nice looking knife. I am definitely getting one of these little mothers.

I picked something else up and now I'm wishing I went for a Spline haha.

Actually champ, what you just wrote was total bullshit. Clash? Cost me $22 when I got it. OSO Sweet? $20 and $24(for the red one). Drone? $21. Thistle? $20. ALL bought on either Knifecenter, BladeHQ, or Amazon, cause that's where I buy pretty much all of my knives. Not one bought at a big box store(the only big box store Kershaw I have is the Kuro, which has been $20 at Walmart for at least the last 4 years, and the Crown, which has been $15 for just as long). Kershaw started jacking up the price of the 8Cr13 knives about the time the Emersons started coming out.

Except not considering the $35 knives go back to the year before the Emerson's came out.

Good try hard though. Keep getting those crazy old Kershaw models that have been on sale for years with no big name maker to pay a royalty to and be happy.

Btw, every one of those knives is still available for the exact same price you paid for them... None of them are $35. The Thistle is on sale for 15 BUCKS at knifecenter! Damn you Kershaw and your doubling of the price of all of your 8cr knives!

Would this be considered a second degree burn, Mr champ????

I will give you my Cryo II (one of the knives actually comparable to the Spline) if you can find a link from the wayback machine to any dealer selling it for a regular price (not clearance, not "going out of business", not factory second) under $29.95.

Mine was also a KnifeCenter purchase, on sale, and over $30 even at the sale price at the time. I don't go to big box stores for knives.

I just got my Spline and I concur with the OP about ergos, blade shape, and the pocket clip. I think 8Cr is good enough for me as I'm not using my EDC knife that much I can touch it up on the Sharpmaker. Here are a few pics and size comparisons with other popular knives.

Nice pictures glad you like the Spline too. I've been enjoying my Entropy as well and I have a Ferrite on the way.

I'm not DShiflet, but look at March 2014 and July-December 2015: https://thetracktor.com/detail/B00AU6NWP4/us/

Also worth noting, I like the Spline and think it's priced just about right for what you get. I'm just being contrary on the price thing. The only part of this thread I agree with is that the new ~$20 3CR stuff is garbage, not because of the designs but because they're using a horrible, cheap steel.

Agreed regarding the 3Cr steel.

How do you find the source of these prices on [SITE NAME REDACTED]? I'd stock up on backup Cryos just because at that price. Maybe find me a super cheap Spline as well. :D Funny how it blipped down juuust below $29.95 for like a day and then right back up. This could be a very handy site if I can figure out how it works, though.

Edit: I see from the top link it points to [DEALER NAME REDACTED]. I have to wonder if it aggregates all the sellers or if it just uses the "sold by [DEALER NAME REDACTED]" listing.

Scott and Tsar, it would do you well to keep links like that off this site.

No disrespect; it's just part of the rules. Makes things fair for the supporting vendors.
