Everyone, Since some of us made it to the kershaw sale, then I think we should make a single unified thread about the steals, deals and good knives that we got. However, I warn you, mine will be hard to follow
.
My friends and uncle got there at about 3:30 and were father back than we were last year when we got there at 4, but we got there early enough to be about 40 back in line. We talked and told jokes while we waited for the doors to open, and then we headed in. Just like other years, the tables around the ZTs were packed. There were lost of everything with the notable exceptions of the 056X and 055X, which were my goal for the day. The Tilt was at the top of my buy list, but I knew there was no way I could get my hands on one of those. I started shopping, and finally settled on a shun paring knife and a black shallot. I needed to go, but I wanted to say Hi to Thomas W and thank him for all the time that he spent on the forum. I also knew that he was the only chance I would ever have of getting a tilt, because by the time that I would have money to spend on one they would be so rare that I wouldn't be able to afford one. The group I was with had to leave soon, however, and so a frantic phone call to my dad gave me 45 minutes. I found Thomas and we talked for a little bit before I popped the question: "I was wondering if you would be able to get me a Tilt." Instead of the response that I was expecting, which was something along the lines of "sorry, there aren't any more", he said "Anything else?" I was a bit shocked, but I added a 0560 to the list because I really wanted one. I'm a broke college student with big knife dreams. He told me he could do that and that I should just hang around while he talked to a couple of other people. I stood around and talked to OregonKnifeNerd, and then finally Thomas came over and handed me a Tilt and a 0550. Out of reflex, I told him that I had said 0560, but then I came to my senses and demurred that there was no reason for him to go back and swap the knife out. we agreed that there was no way that I would be able to get through the line in time, and so he asked me how much money I had. I gulped a little bit, and then emptied my wallet. It was pitiful. He gave me a hard time for a couple of minutes, and then sent me off with "Merry Christmas". My mind went into overload. I got this big stupid grin on my face and said "thanks very much", and then went to go catch my ride home. I was just buzzing on the way home. It is still just sinking in. Now, before Pics, I need to say a couple of things. then there will be lots of pics.
First of all, OregonKnifeNerd Is a class act. I sold him a S60V blur with beat up handles and a scratched up blade for what I paid for it, and so, while we were talking waiting for Thomas, I mentioned that I was picking up a knife for a friend but would probably have to eat the cost to get it from dave becuase the line was too long. He then offered to let me drop it in his box and that he would mail it out to me later. I happily agreed. He is good people.
Second of all, I just wanted to let all the mods and such know that I am now a customer for life. I got started on Kershaws, never got off, and Now, I really figure that I have no reason to go to any other knife company because I appreciate the way that Kershaw does business. They give us incredible deals, Both for new knives and for blems, because the new ones are essentially a life-time purpose and the blems are so cheap that you can use them with abandon. I am a customer for life. You guys earned it.
