  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

The King is pleased

now I know why people pay for Micarta. This stuff feels great! I like a blocky grip, I'm leaving it that way, prefer it over the factory shape. I pretty much created ESEE Micarta grips for the BK9 LOL

Cool man, if that's what feels right in your hand then more pwer to ya.

I too think the micarta is worth it. You did a nice job on it for sure.

for the guys who do Kydex (GodSpeed, MWTIC, Az for example or any other kydex-benders))

does it matter which side is out? matte or smooth?

I know jacksh*t about kydex, but I do know wood....so used to ''Smooth side is finished side and finished side goes OUT'' in woodworking/construction that I made my sheath smooth out without even thinking consciously about it.

So did I eff it up? I guess I cld always reheat it and do it over if I'm supposed to have smooth in.

Ha! I was just gonna comment on your great mod-athon! It doesn't matter.... you'll just get some "drag" and extra wear on any finishes but I don't think it'll be an issue here. I noticed it right away and thought you used ABS.... I practiced with ABS for a long time before I actually bought Kydex.... but a friend of mine is a "Plastics Genius" with a giant shop full of it so it was free. Other than the look that's the only difference... "texture".

I really like all that you've done to this and if you didn't already order them I'd send you some free eyelets... or if you were in AZ we'd be finishing it up right now;)

How much work was it to take off the thumb-ramp? A buddy of mine ground out the handle on a BK2 to make it balance "better" and it was really hard still that far down the steel.

Thanks for sharing & ..... Well done Sir!,

Eli

thanks for the input, I was startin to worry a bit LOL

I used a pedestal/bench grinder so it was fairly easy/painless. I just went slowly, made certain I never got it hot enough to notice, dipped it in cold water every couple passes. The pommel was trickier then the 'ramp IMO

I did final touches with a flat file, I used a round file to enlarge the halfmoon that's left below the ramp, makes a nice firesteel notch.

hell yeah! Im as happy as a tick onna mutt's butt!

BTW vicks vapor rub works Great to keep the etching off the angles!

I would think that Vaseline would work just as well, and maybe even better, since it has so many other uses...

well, and I know all this is gonna sound bad...

but in all seriousness, the Vick's isn't as ''goopy'' as Vaseline...cleans up better, smears on blade ''cleaner'' and wipes right of if u get it on stuff u dont want to.

*jokes (ON)
