To mark the occasion I received my first set of Sebenza's lets do a giveaway. As most of you know my favorite giveaway is CRK grease. But this time lets giveaway two bottles. Ok to the contest. I want to see your favorite doubles of Crk's you own. Now they can be safe queens or carry kings. They can be two beat up worked umnums or two spirograph damascus mnandi's or a large and a small sebenza. A lot will have to do with the photos you take and the story it tells. Because it wont be me making the decision but all of you! Everyone can enter only one set to the contest, but they do have to be CRK! Everyone gets one vote on which is their favorite! Also you can change your vote but you only get one. So who gets the Grease? Of course the winner gets one and I will randomly pick from the votes who gets the other! USA only please. Ends next friday. Heres my new set(of course I am disqualified). Have fun and good luck! Quake

Outstanding set you have there,I've always been a fan of the Crosshairs pattern graphic.

I'll be back with a few sets of CRK's, users and Queens.

Good luck everybody :)

Here is a pair of 2006 annual Sebenzas. The annuals are by far my favorite of the inlay knives that CRK produces (or produced!)
These are extra special because I bought the snakewood version specifically to celebrate my daughter's birth! I picked up the second one just recently from fine fellow member.
My daughter "helps" me clean and take care of my knives, and always wants one in her purse when we go out. She knows the story of the snakewood annual, and knows it will be hers when she graduates from college! I let her carry it last week when we went to a friends house, and she proudly took it out to show off what she was carrying:)

These are two very very special knives for me.

The first, a Bocote mnandi, was my first midtech/Chris reeve knife. I'd say this is the knife that really got me to appreciate higher end knives. It is a very strange example of Bocote, it is a very dark and rich chocolate color with stripes of caramel.

The second, a perfectly composed mammoth bark mnandi, came to me at a very difficult time in my life, by a great friend here on the forums. It came to me while I was in the hospital fighting cancer last year.
The story to this mammoth is that I always thought it was unobtainable. I would look in awe at the photo of this knife whenever the the owner posted it(and that was a lot!). It is the perfect mammoth inlay. It's exactly what I imagine in my mind when I think "mammoth tusk". Anyway, the owner has an amazing collection, he's a crk guy's crk guy:thumbup:. So one day I sent him a message, almost jokingly, asking if he would sell me my all time grail. Keep in mind, this was his edc for about 5 years straight. To my suprise, he accepted! I was ecstatic.
Not many people get to own their all time grail, so I felt very lucky to have mine on the way. It gave me something to look forward to while stuck in the hospital, feeling pretty low. In the mean time, the owner and I shared a great conversation through email. [Some of you may know who the owner is by looking at the knife, so I don't want to reveal too much personal information, but during our conversation, I learned that he had much to say about cancer. His words were very inspiring, and some of the things he shared with me filled me with hope and joy.]
This is why I love knife collecting. The hobby transcends the knives themselves and consists of a diverse group of people, brought together by a common interest. Every time you make a trade, or sell someone a knife they've been after for a long while, you get the opportunity to get to know them. Sometimes you meet a person, and something little they've said helps you more than they know. That is the case for me while I was talking to the owner. I don't want to keep you in too much suspense, I am completely cancer free now. I have been for many months.
But I still remember cutting off the hospital bracelet with my new mammoth mnandi when I finally got to go home.

I hope I am not breaking the rules. This is a big and a small but not of the same breed, but they are CRK's of course. Just disqualify me if it is not in line with the rules. The story: My Umnumzaan is my first CRK and my pride! The Small Regular BG-42 serrated is getting to be a real favorite to EDC. Sorry about the pheasant cleaning photo's all I had was my iphone in the field. As can be seen they are both "Pocket Kings" as all my knives are. I do so love looking at the "Safe Queens" and maybe someday I will have some. But at this point I just love my "Pocket Kings". Here are my entries. If I have to tell them they do not qualify it will hurt but they are tough and will get over it, they have pretty thick skin (or Ti as it is). :-)

First off, Great Submissions everyone! Keep them coming. Second off, everyone gets a vote so make yours known. No feelings hurt here! You will be able to change it if another set comes up that catches your fancy. That's what makes it fun!

Abomin, Cant wait to see what you have!

Ernie, Annuals are a grail for many of us! Brownie points for the story about your daughter. I as well bought one the day my daughter was born and bought her an autographed 25 for her first b-day.(of course I get to use it until she gets old enough:))

Birdhunter, no rules broken at all. Also you get brownie points for the blood in the photo's and the hard use.

Mikepapa, my friend and rule breaker. only one set per submission(I would choose the flag regulars for sure, but that's me) I would love a new photo of those two! And no recusation's allowed that's the fun of it! Only person that is disqualified is the OP.:)

SO for my vote so far I was leaning towards Pvic's Sebenza's with the grains I got lost in. But this quote won me over "But I still remember cutting off the hospital bracelet with my new mammoth mnandi when I finally got to go home."
1+ for William

VVill, at a time of self-pity about truly insignificant things, it really made my day to get that cancer-free report from you. 100% agree with you about the community we have here. It often goes beyond the knives, and when that happens it's a truly special thing. My thoughts and prayers go out to you for an abundance of cancer-free years to come.

Regarding this contest, I'm waiting for James' entry, the man that taught me all about matching sets. Meanwhile, here's my entry of two LE Sebenzas. Please excuse the Mnandi interloper in the photo. ;)

Now for my first vote..... I love the story about the hospital band cut off knife! But I have to vote for the twin LEs in mammoth because I would love to just get one and you have two from the same year!!

Wow we have some great sets entered! Now remember that anyone can vote and that will be their entry for a prize! You don't have to have a set to vote. Just say your in and which is your favorite. One week to go! Q

My vote goes to pvicenzi and his large and small honduran rosewood set. That might be the best wood grain I've seen on any knife, and they match very well.

I don't have a typical matched set, so it may not count. But hey, everyone likes pics!

"A small basket catching large raindrops"

^^^Wow ^^^great Damascus! Those count for sure, "everyone" can vote on favorite set! Good Luck

Great knives in this thread, I especially love Dave's trio of damascus, spectacular.

I am going to go with the pair that really got me into collecting CRK, and especially collecting the large and small pairs. I had purchased a large decorated on the forum as my first Sebenza, loved the knife but was afraid to use it so I bought a large plain with my name engraved on it directly from CRK for my work knife. Then I stumbled upon an auction for the Sebenza LDC-9, an exclusive variation offered by Robertson Custom Cutlery that I had never heard of before. I won the auction and contacted RCC on the off chance that the knifes little brother was still still in stock.

So now whenever a numbered run is offered I try and get #20, in a set if possible. So far I have the Classic 2000, Insingo and CF sets, as well as the #20 from the first run of Mnandi.
