The King VS Thai E-nep NEW MOD PICS ADDED

"Aha"

Thanks for the pics and info! They have some interesting hollow handle chop chops and decent prices. I need to check out that store!
And but of course my Ontario USGI shows up now. I likes except the blocky handle. Stop. Dremel time

I think the cops would arrive before I had a chance to make a thread! LMAO

You never seen Dexter? Geez, I wouldn't be caught until at least the 7th or 8th season, if I were you.

:D

Moose

dang it moose...ur idea makes sense, as bad as I feel against it......I may have to pull the old dremel out on the ricasso of this.

That really is one big ugly beast, looks like it chops good though. I can't believe you don't have a machax yet, your missing out on a world of awesomeness. If you feel like doing some chopfests with one and don't mind sharpening it first I have one you can borrow.

thats very generous Sky!

But I should be at the Gathering in less then a month...and I have a feeling there will be at least one machax there LOL

Slight mods.

Now, I just need my kydex shipment to arrive...gonna see what kinda sheath madness I can create for this sucka.

The CHOIL was Moose's idear......I blame him LOL I would never choil up a blade on my own say-so....he invoked his Mod powers and made me do it.

i like it, looks like a monster. make the choil bigger. like the bk5 then it will flow with the knife and not just be a bump in the middle

I have been looking at it since I made it...I dunno bout bigger, but I have an idea of something to ''fix'' it. i'm new to choils...first one, I don't like them LOL but on this ONE SPECIFIC blade...a choil makes sense. Kinda like how the 5 and 15 make sense with a choil.

Thrill, that E-Nep is amazing. You did great, brother. That micarta looks amazing. Are there any hot spots on the handle with those grooves?

I liked the grooves on my 9..I chopped with it yesterday and I had zero problems. Its a common mod with the esee guys I guess. I haven't used this enep yet with new scales...I still need to epoxy the pins in and file em down.

I made a booboo folks...I was making the micarta...didnt have enuff resin to make the full 60 layers like I planned (it's made from construction paper BTW) I was using the whole 9x12 sheet of paper...only had enuff resin to do 30 layers. So it's right at 3/16'' thick.

I epoxied two layers together...which put each scale at 3/8'' (same as the originals) but the epoxy failed during rasping/fitting. I think I had wax-paper residue interfering with my epoxy bond.

I only finished them to see how the colors looked final sanded...and to practice. I actually like how it feels thin though, Im gonna use it awhile, and see if I like it during chopping before I tear it apart and redo it.

Oh well, I learn from every mistake.

to give ya an idea of the thickness....the handle on the enep is almost exactly the same thickness as the BK14 with zytel...maybe a hair thicker then the 14.

Yeah, that's probably a little thin for such a big chopper. Too bad it didn't work out the first time.

thats why I like practice...it makes perfect (or as close to perfect as an Ogre can get lol)

I have already designed something to take care off the problems I had with this batch...I have found that when doing any new technique/project that the second one is about 50 times easier and faster to do then the first one.

 Choil is NOT a dirty word ! There, i said it. Once you say it a few times, it gets better. LOL :D Great blade & great mods, as always.
