The Knife Buying Public Are Fools

I was just looking around on the internet to buy a becker BK-15 and I found out the model is discontinued. Why?!?! Makes me want to cry a little :(
I don't get it anyway; that knife is a big seller, why would Becker do such a thing? And it looks like it happened already in 2014, maybe they just halted the production for a while? (please tell me so)

The 5 and 15 are awesome knives, but after using almost every comparable Becker knife I have to give the 16 top billing for small knives, the drop point just really works well for me and the blade is the perfect length for the weight. Don't get me wrong, the 15 is fantastic, certainly #2 in the tweener department, but the 16 just feels a tad more balanced.

The 5 is awesome, but whenever I've needed a big knife of that size I've pulled out my 9 and it conquered all tasks with a muster I just don't think the 5 can compare to. Recently the 20 has replaced my 9, so much so I've not felt the need for anything other than the 20 on all trips since purchase.

Those 15's sure went fast.

They are still around at fairly reasonable prices....just gotta keep your eyes out. After not getting a 15 for a long time, I did.....and the dam broke. I have 3 now and EDC this one that I modded:

Fileworked, wood scales, thinned and convexed to within an inch of it's life.....yeah, I'm a convert. The 5, not so much. Useful, I reckon....but I'm sure I haven't given it the fair play it deserves. Other blades to play with in the woods, and I have kitchen knives I really love so no place for it there. Still, I have 2; not likely to give them up. Got plans at some point to radicalize one of 'em into a fighter - but I'm still drawing. The 5 is perfectly capable, mind....I just don't reach for it in most situations, I guess. The 15, OTOH....gets used a LOT.

I have googled until my finger fell off and the only 15s I have found are $131+ at the river site. To much for this old man, especially being I plan to toss the handles and sheath. Your 15 looks outstanding granite!
The search goes on !

Keep an eye on the Blade forums exchange. There was just one up for 65 bucks which is still a great price.

I always like the Schrade 165OT Woodsman. Like the 15...gotta pay. No way in hell I'd pay anything for a current production. I have one I paid $15 for that was caked in rust. Managed to clean it up ok and took a hell of an edge but certainly is no beauty queen. User for sure. If I could find it I'd post a pic.

I have two 5's. Want to keep one but want a BK2 and a 9. So far love them all. I have the 4, two 5's and a 20.

Any pictures of the 15 design by other makers?
Being the 15 is a Fisk Designed Knife, I'll take a wild guess and say no. You won't ever find a Fisk knife as affordable as these made by KA-BAR to the best of my knowledge.
The geometry of the blade, swedge along the spine cuts thru material like a Jet cutting thru Air. :)

I think Mr. Fisk would be the first to tell us that he simply brought a classic design to our attention knowing that we were too blind to see it's usefulness.

It's kind of like George Carlin saying "I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. I'm just showing you things you forgot to laugh at the first time."
