Ok so now either I'm going insane or my knife project is controlled my the illuminati or some crazy s***
So I'm making a bushcraft knife out of a piece of blue steel #2 that used to be a file, everything was normal until I did a clay temper

First there was no sori (which I had some people explain is normal with the size knife I'm making) and befor I bothered polishing it up to look pretty and sharpening it I tested the edge with some RC testers and the hardness in somewhere in the very low 60's possibly very high 50's and a lot lowered near the spine (indicating the temper was a success) but cleaning it up so far has proven to show no hamon from the clay temper, I'm etching it in vinegar as I type this and will update if I can see tha hamon but right now idk what is going on with this knife and I'm super confused
Any thoughts or am I just going insane and over thinking something stupid?

Generally, the hamon does not show until you've polished into the area of 600 grit. Remember to sand from ricasso to tip in one pass, each time.

I worked my was up in sand paper the once I got to 600 I switched over to water stones,800 and 1000 and I still don't see a hamon, everything looks even on it, I won't get to etch it till tomorrow though so I won't know for sure till then
