The knife test standard.

Steel pipe and a 3 pound sledge.

:D :p

Thats what I seen Dan Busse do with a Mud Puppy. It held up really good too.

Pineapple batoning. If Lynn thought about it, he'd include it in his videos :eek::eek:

I thought about this a while ago and posted on another forum trying to get 5 basic tests that could be used for any knife review allowing fair comparisons to be made between knives.

Valid points where raised about results varying due to the tester's skill, build and personal preference in knives.

I think 5 tests that were generally seen as valid were:
1) Batoning
2) Fuzz sticks
3) Chopping through fresh branches 2'' in diameter
4) Rope cutting 1/2'' hemp or manilla
5) Slicing cardboard

I for one hope to see some sort of standard knife testing if just to make it easier for me to decide on my next knife.

I test my knives by using them for the purpose that I bought the knife. For most that would be slicing food, skinning and field dress game cutting rope and leather. A wire edge may cut paper but you can close your eye's and listen to the sound and tell the difference real quick.
