Looks like a "Beaver Tail Dag." that has been sharpened for many long years, Some of the old copper ones had the same or similiar holes to tie the blade onto the handle.The material was to precious to use for handles.

its a brutal little beast
i think i will finish filing out the edges

it will have 4 bevels 2 on each side
i kinda like the way the 2 holes define a bolster and shape the blade
its tool steel
i was going to kiln harden it in college
guess i will need to figure out touch hardening with oil quencing
