These are the Knives that we took to deer camp this year. We de-bone and cut the meat at camp so I take my processing knives along as well. The top one is a Explorer fillet/boning knife, next a Dexter Russel boning knife followed by a very old Old Hickory fellet/boning knife. Below that a remake of a 8 inch elcheapo Chinese SS knife convexed and shortened to five inch. The JK backup is below that. Left is the Bark River Highland and below the convexed Mora 740. Bottom a Super knife with hooked blade and the best all around sharpener I have ever seen, The four in one edgepro. I also had the Sagan saw and Gerber Gut hook in my vest. On the far right, the big Mora knife

Those Old Hickory knives are like the Energizer Bunny, they keep going, and going... Looks like that one has seen a few sharpenings ;) Nice selection of blades.

Nice selection! I've got a couple of Dexter Russell's that I like also. You do a lot of cutting at camp, more than I do. I hope that thing in the upper left is a pill vial with ibuprofin for repetetive motion injuries from all that cutting. :D

No pic, heres the knives I brought to camp this year in michigan's upper peninsula. We also don't do any butchering there, one of the guys has a shop set up in his garage in town (about half hour away) so thats where we do all the serious butchering.

Anyway

Global g2 chef's knife (I do alot of the camp cooking, and without my G2 I get cranky)

Spyderco Pacific Salt (My EDC pocket knife through this season)

Rapid River Knife Works fin and feather knife (fixed blade on my belt through the season)

small Douk Douk Baraka (also edc pocket, I like the blade profile for making holes for shotgunning beers)

Opinel #8 (stashed in my hunting bag, redundant backup)

Kershaw Outcast (pretty much stayed on my quad, but nice to know its there if I needed it)

Has anyone else on here ever used or owned anything by rapid river knife works? I like it because its made in the UP, and its some pretty quality stuff.

JK said you had a baker's dozen of his knives and I only see one. Are the rest "safe queens"?? :D

Yep. I have two. A Rapid River Skinner and their new Timber Cruiser hatchet. Love 'em both.

Now I need a Chub in antler to match my hatchet :p. Kris Duerson is one of the good guys too. Generous to a fault.

As for the OP, Love the Dexter Russell. I've got one of their big "chopper" butcher knives with the white Sani-Safe handles. Its my Mini Bolo/Machete.

No way! I actually had the Hiker along too but somehow it missed the picture. I think I do have at least a dozen of Johns but I have a truck load of knives so Only so many can go at once.;), My wife will varify that.:D The cheap Chinese knife is for the nephew who always forgets his knife, and usually manages to loose one of mine. However he is young and strong and a great deer dragger.

We have to bone out our meat because we hunt across state lines and since the CWD scare, you can't transport bones across the ND line. No problem though we have a Freezer at the deer camp so I cut and bag it in Gallon bags and freeze it right there. Being in the Dakota's the meat is still in the coolers and still froze like a rock. Up here we don't worry about cooling the meat, only about it freezing before we can skin and process it.:D

I gotta count my JK's and see how many I have besides the two that are on the way next week. We have great Makers on this site. Johns knives are crossed with Tanks!!!

The chub is on my to buy list. I was admiring the antler, but I think I will go with the green laminate to match my fin and feather.

I have three of John's knives and all are keepers. He told me I had to order another 13 knives to jump in front of you in quantity. He said he was willing if I was. ;)
