Be careful what you wish for. One year I was in Syracuse, New York with a Texan who had never seen snow and looked forward to it. When the blizzard hit, we were in snow up to our waists in the middle of the street, and the first floors of the buildings were buried by drifts.

In Minnesota, it rained on New Year's Eve.

This was the fifth straight deer season where I took rain gear along instead of snowshoes.

Last year was the first year sales of ATVs exceeded snowmobile sales in MN.

The Minneapolis Park Board has cancelled broomball season for the first time in history because the rinks won't freeze.

Bait shops are staying closed around here because the ice is not thick enough for ice fishing.

Yesterday the paper announced that they will be revising their list of tree species that will "tolerate" the MN climate.

On the other hand, they usually don't get much snow to speak of in Sitka, AK - but so far they have received 27 inches. Something bass-ackwards seems to be going on.

Lots of snow, thank you

I've been very disappointed with the weather here. Todays high is 80 sunny weird for this time of year.

pit man, that third pic is an absolute classic. Beautiful.

sweet - we have trails like that, just no snow. ya know, it's bummeriffic when you guy your gf snow shoes, and then for 2 years, not QUITE enough snow... then you break up ;) hahahaha

Some friends and I want to make some winter camping with a snow shelter... now all we need is snow.

sounds like a dusting-you wont hear a native syracusean(sp-lol) cry about snow unless its a good amount like 36" or so any less is considered a dusting at best-

and it more than likey wasnt a blizzard, its lake effect-

want to see some real snow go a little more north, tug hill area can get 2 feet a day for a week or 2- lake effect is some nasty stuff

We usually see a fair amount of snow on our annual trek to Indiana over the holidays, enough for sledding, and one year, some snowmobiling. This year, other than an inch or two Christmas night, no significant frozen stuff. Last year, here in SC, I don't remember seeing one flake.

It was the winter of 1965-66. They were dropping powdered milk by helicopter to outlying homes all across the tier. It was nothing to me, I was raised in New York in the 50s when we had real snow routinely. But it's fun to watch, because the University, like our detachment, had people from areas that never imagined a whole winter with snow piled up like that for months.

noreaster-the baddest of the bad-

65-66 snow was at telephone line hight after plowing

WE have snow.
I'm burning wood.

Those of you with beach front property are in trouble if our ice caps continue shrinking.

Ever see the movie where everyone on earth knows they're going to die- I forget, maybe an asteroid, but this one guy goes out and sleeps with all the women he's always wanted- including a high school english teacher.

I probably would get drunk. I'm 50 so my high school english teachers are probably not functional any longer. Maybe I wouldn't get drunk; the same thought of 'what the hell' flips over and "why bother?" becomes truth.

Real nice to see those photos, Bladite. Brightens up my day. Thank you.
I'll have to put some up sometime. Once I went to the thumbnail photos, I got stuck there and forgot how to make them fullsize.

A few days ago, it was 11 degrees Celsius here. I was walking around at night without a hat and I didn't mind. That ain't typical January weather. When the seasonal weather hits, I won't be ready!

got some snow-not much about 8-10" with another 6" on the way-

nice to see all the brown now white
