The Large Reg. . .

Yes. The Regulars, especially from the earlier years, definitely have a more spearpoint-shaped blade, while the Classic/21 is more pointy. The Original Sebenza blades were sort of in-between.

Oddly, or perhaps purposefully, the Sebenza 25 blade shape the closest to the Original as I've seen in the modern versions. I don't have a picture of that comparison, but can probably put something together later.

Thanks for the input sir.

Yes, you read it right folks. I love Regulars. So much that about 3 years ago I stared to think what was going to happen when they are all gone, or mostly gone. Sort of like the Large Originals with clips are now. So I thought about it and I am 35 now and at first I figured one knife every 5 years would be a safe average but a hell of a lot can happen in 5 years. So I decided on one every 3.5 years. So with my trusty calculator I figured that I needed about 12 knives, roughly. With a ton of hard work, time, and well lets be honest, money. I was able to locate 2 Large Originals, both with clips, and both happen to be Ps, 5 BG-42 Regulars, and 5 S30V Regulars. Slowly sent them into CRK to be cleaned, sharpened, re-blasted, all that good stuff and I now have enough Regulars/Originals until I die.
I know death is not a happy topic and no one wants to think about dying but I thought about being 50 or 60 and looking for Large Regulars and thought to myself, "No Way". So with a bit of math and a ton of hard work I figured out a respectable number and went with it. I love both the BG-42s and the S30Vs, each have their pluses and minus' so i went right down the middle. Ok, ok, I have 2 Unique Graphics in there just for fun. Well I have a lot more U.G. but those are collectibles, we are talking users here. So now down the line 30 years I will be cracking out a fresh one and it will probably be the smartest thing that I have ever done.
Sure I maxed out a few credit cards, and my Pay Pal credit as well, but damn it it is worth it. I certainly don't plan to lose a knife every 5 years but it is better to be safe than sorry. I wish I had a few more Originals but those were miracles to find as finding Originals with clips is like finding Unicorns, or hell I don't know, its hard ok, lol. And the fact that they are both Ps is really cool as well so now I can say that I am edcing a large P Sebenza.
I currently am rocking a Large Regular S30V and loving every second of it. I love everything about them. Plus I managed to find one that was polished with a swedge that is a killer as well. So with all of that said here is my advice to all of you. If you see a regular, jump on it and jump on it NOW. I plan on carrying a Large Regular until the day that I die and that may not be for a while (fingers crossed) but at least I wont be 75 years old sitting at a computer screen waiting for a large Regular to pop up, lol. We all collect so many knives and a lot of great knives but if you figure out what you like, I say, go with it.
IMO the large Regular is the best production edc ever made, period. Plus, I have carried almost every type of custom and for the life of me I can't get used to a flipper and all others are just too dainty. I would like to say that knives made by MarcinS, Hoback, and Jakub at Poltergeist Works do come in a close second. With Marcin making the closest thing to a knife that I deem comparable to a Regular Sebenza (I'm speaking custom of course). But anyways, good luck to everyone and trust me when i say that I didn't just get this boat load of money and get all of these knives. I made sacrifices. Like no going out to the bars for a while, cutting down on fixing up my truck, not buying a new watch, so I really did have re-prioritize things to make it happen but now that it did I am happy as can be. This way, IF I have any kids I will certainly have some knives to pass down. I have many CRK collectors of course and those little f*ckers better not sell them, lol.
But please don't take this as me showing off my knives or anything like that because that is not where Im coming from. I am saying that you can be truly passionate about something and make sure that you have them for the rest of your life. Now unless a robber gets through 3 walls and can walk away with a 600 pound gun safe on his back that is bolted to the floor I think that I am ok, :). But figure out what you want and go for it. At the beginning I never thought I would be able to pull off those Originals and never thought Id be able to get all of those Regulars but with hard work, and cutting down on pretty much all of my other expenses I was able to make sure that I will have a minty fresh Regular for the rest of my life, every 3.5 years of my life that is.
With my luck I will have the same one for the next 50 years and it will all be for nothing, lol. Then at least I can juice up every guy at the nursing home with a killer edc. But please guys, find something that you are passionate about and anything is possible. I am a true testament to that. Take care and good luck hunting to everyone as the Large regular is, and always will be, the best edc ever made in this great country of ours.

Mr. Brend.... I read that ENTIRE wall of text and was hoping the max payout would be PICTURES of all these Regs!!!!!

Thanks for the input sir, but pics please!?!

"So I decided on one every 3.5 years"
Unless you are an extremely hard user of the knives I doubt you will go through them any where near that fast(many problems will be repairable if they happen), but they will never be worth less than you paid now and my guess is we will all die with a few extra knives laying around.
Congratulations on your acquisitions. You will at least have peace of mind

Does this mean you're done buying old Sebenza's, Ryan? More for me then. Cool..:D

Thank you for posting this.

It appears to me that the blade edges are nearly identical in shape, including the amount of belly they have. It also appears that it is the blade spine of the large Reg is ground down a bit less than the 21 giving the appearance of a taller blade height on the Reg as well as a pointier tip on the 21.

Does anyone else see the same thing?

Here's another view. The knives are a 1996 Regular, a 2004 (I think) Classic and a 2012 21. I think you're right. I've always thought the large Regular had a deeper belly, but I think it's actually an optical illusion, comparing these pretty carefully. Ooops. ;)

First, love the pic!

Second, I am glad I am not crazy regarding my thoughts on the belly!

That LH classic doesn't look right, you need to send it to me for further inspection:rolleyes: great looking trio

Thanks. It has a matching small that actually doesn't look quite right. The titanium is a different color and slightly different finish. It always puzzled me until I heard one of the people at CRK talking about how some batches of titanium they get finish differently and the light bulb went on. It's very noticeable if you put a clip insert in. The finish doesn't match at all. :o

Sorry Dallas, I still need more :). There is never enough. I REALLY want one of your UG numbered ones DAMNIT!!!

View attachment 514221 I like mine even better since I clipped the blade, anodized the handle, and enlarged the lanyard hole to accept a push pin. The blade is BG-42.View attachment 514222

Hey TiGuy7, would you mind elaborating on the "push pin" dealio you made there? Perhaps some more detailed pictures and a place to buy these push pins? That looks pretty slick. I'm worried about losing a Seb while hiking. This might be the ticket!

The belly of the original large Sebenzas is, as stated, more pronounced. Moreover, the originals are, well, original!:D

This has probably already been asked, but is it still possible to find any Regular Sebenzas for sale? Are the forums the best place to look? I wouldn't expect eBay to be the best place to check because of fakes, but i might be wrong.

Yes, they turn up here and eBay other B/S/T sites. I don't think the Regulars are faked much, probably because they've been discontinued for quite a few years now. They turn up in small numbers but fairly regularly. If they're priced reasonably, they go very quickly.

The distance between the head of the pin and the balls that collapse into the shank when the plunger is pushed is called the grip length. You are looking for a stainless steel, ring handle, push button pin with a 1/2" grip length and a 3/16" diameter.
The hole in your handle will have to be enlarged to 3/16". The pin will go into the hole from either direction (in the pocket, outside the belt, inside the waistband, etc.).
I get the pins from Reid Supply which seems to have merged with Essentra. They have an online catalog.

Hey, thanks! I'm either going to set one of those up or try to make a curly-cue lanyard like Haze uses. 'Preciate it.
