I was just watching the movie a few min. ago and I love it. I love the scenery in that movie so much and the time period it portrays. I heard the movie was filmed in N.C. Is this true? At a place called Chimney Rock. Is that far from Cherokee N.C.? I have to find this place and go there myself, its just the place I am looking for to hike and see the wild. Just wondering what everyone else thinks of this movie. If I could go back in time and live, it would be that time period.

Me and Natty Bumpo would hang out and talk hawks. Then I would swipe his scottish girl and runnoft.

Um sorry I didnt understand a word you wrote there. Are you talking about the characters in the movie?

Great movie, great series of books by Cooper as well with the fictional hero Nathainel Bumpo aka Hawkeye. leatherstocking agood read I think there were 4 books with Natty as the main caracter.

Great book and as usual, doesn't capture all of the magic when translating it into film.

Er, are we talking about the one with Daniel Day Lewis as lead?

In an unusual turn, I thought the movie was seriously flawed but better than the book. The small arms handling was very good tho. If you've ever read "Cooper's Literary Offences" by Mark Twain you can never look at Natty Bumppo in the same way again.

If you liked the Movie you should visit the Lake George area in NY. Where some of the events actually took place.

A lot of history, forts, artifacts, and sights to see.

Plus, it is a great place to bring your family since there are so many things to do such as amusement parks, a great town, lots of activities, and so much more.

There is also plenty of outdoor stuff as well to get away from it all as well such as white water rafting, great fishing, great hunting, camping on a remote island on the lake, hiking,etc...

Just a really cool place with a lot of things to do and see.

I effing hate that line by over rated DDL, "I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU!" I hate when Hollywood makes historic event into a Ridiculous romance movie.

The waterfalls scene is cool!

Yeah, they filmed it at Chimmney Rock NC. It's a pretty big attraction in NC. I went there was I was younger. I think it's pretty close to Ashville NC and not too far from Cherokee NC. Their main attraction is the Chimmney Rock, The Cigar Box and the waterfall, where they filmed the final fight scene. They do have a 4 hour hike up to the top of the waterfall.

Yes, it was in Chimney Rock, NC, I've been there myself 4 times, it' s really awesome. If you ever go there be sure to go to the waterfall and walk up the ''Needles Eye''.

that is a great movie... the books are even better, as usual...:D the scenery is amazing, very well done... and all of those weapons were just awesome... daniel winkler did a fantastic job, designing some of those...

If you want to see the actual water fall that inspired the author of the movie. It is called Coopers Cave and it is located in Glens Falls,NY

You can thank Director Michael Mann for the weapons-handling in the movie. He also Directed DeNiro, Pacino, Kilmer and Sizemore in "HEAT." He also Directed "Collateral" with Tom Cruise and brought in "Andy McNabb" a/k/a Mick Gould (Former British SAS, who he used for "Heat") to train Cruise.

My Brother told me that Twain referred to Cooper's work on LOTM as "The Bent Stick Chronicles." :D

The back-to-back movie to watch with this one is definitely "The Patriot" with Mel Gibson. There are flaws in that movie as well, but sometimes we can forgive Hollyweird a bit...sometimes. :)

Some of it was filmed at Chimney Rock. Many of the forest and waterfall scenes were filmed a few miles from my home over at Dupont State Forest.

Classic book, very good movie imho.

Agree with you on that one Don, great hawk action in both films. Of the two I prefer Last Of The Mohicans, but The Patriot, like Braveheart does almost transcend having Mel Gibson in it! And isn't the baddie in The Patriot an absolute b******d?!

I loved this movie too, and the Patriot.

Chimney Rock is right by Asheville, NC. My brothr lives in Asheville and goes hiking and mountain biking at Chimney Rock all the time.
