Well, we have the traditional Walking Dead threads here and that World War Z movie one just popped up last week. Games don't get brought up much here as film does, but The Last of Us is certainly worthy. Has anyone here played it so far? Unfortunately I don't own a PS3, so I watched one of those YouTube playthroughs. It's a real masterpiece.

The culprit here is a human-targeting species of cordyceps fungus, but it keeps it in the zombie genre by making infected humans attack others to spread the infection.

You have to craft shivs out of supplies you find lying around, and they break after one use of anything :barf: prying doors open, stabbing infected... so of course the whole time I was frustrated that Joel (the protagonist) doesn't have a Busse.

that being said YES i feel the main character would kill these fictional creatures better with a TT KILLA ZILLA just sayin

I picked up this game a few days ago but i haven't had time to try it yet, i buy maybe 1 game a year so i am not what you might call a "gamer", but i am going to try it tonight so just give me a few hours and i will be back with a review. :D

That settles it. This is my next game.

Need to move the PS3 in the bedroom, though. I haven't played much since we started having kids, they don't need to see the mature subject matter. I'm ready to start playing again, though.

On Xbox live, on the screenshot for the TWD game, there is a great shot of Daryl with his Team Gemini

Hey, we have more gamers than we let on :p not being in school anymore doesn't let me play as many games as I used to or want to :o

Watched my stepson play the first 5 minutes and it is awesome. And that's coming from someone who really doesn't play video games.

I read threads like this and I realise I am not one of the "young'uns" any more ... even if I still like fun as I used to as a kid ... I've never owned a computer game of any kind  Generations soon change !

My last video game was Mike Tyson's punch out the summer of 1991. I did buy my wife the throw back game with Ms. Pack man and Centipede as a Xmas gift in 2004. We played it four times and it has sat in a drawer since then.

Finished it a few days ago. Incredible game. One of the best in recent memory. Can't recommend it highly enough.

I was reading a story on Yahoo yesterday, apparently, Ellen Paige (Juno) is upset that the young girl in the game looks like her. They said her name is Ellie and showed a side by side picture, looks a lot like her. She said she likes video games and would be flattered, but she's working on a game where she's a main character.

I am at bout the half way mark, it is really good. The story really pulls you in and makes you connect with the characters. You find a note at about 40% that explains the lack of knives and other weapons, but I have thought many times that Joel's life would be easier with a Rattle Hawk, 1311, or KZII. Good Game, I recommend it.

I missed that since I only got to watch playthroughs on YouTube, and they were kind of pushing through... could you summarize it?
A lot of good lore in that game, although putting everything as notes felt too expository, contrived, and not realistic at all. Must be a weird society if everyone writes down everything they're thinking of, especially as soldiers or infected are breaking down your bedroom door to arrest or kill you :)
