Obviously the potential was there for a very bad outcome; but, I sure am glad to hear that you were able to get the fastener/clip off.

Doesn't it feel awesome in your hand now? The more time I spend with my Zaan, the more I appreciate all the effort that went into its engineering.
Forget about the tight tolerances, bold appearance, quality materials, smooth opening/closing, etc...without all the attributes that make it a CRK, I just really like how it feels in my hand, the protruding flange on the frame lock creates a cavity for your index finger while your thumb is on the jimping, almost like the recess finger groove on some fixed blades, but not quite to that extreme.
It's really a subtle feature that I didn't really think much about until I removed my clip and actually felt my finger lock into the groove. If the flange on the frame lock would have been continued all the way up to the top, that feature wouldn't be apparent; but, by relieving a small section of the flange, it feels amazing. Although I love the Zaan's blade shape the most, it's quite simply just a well designed knife.
