Been bouncing this idea around for over a year, time to try it out with you folks, we need a minimum of 6 people to give this a whirl.

It won't be cheap, regulars around this Forum know that the price is not cheap, the nice thing is, the quality is First Rate. Nothing good is cheap.

This thing is going to cost you $75.00+S&H

5.5 Inch Koppo Stick. Extra hole drilled/finished in the end for a split [key] ring.

While some may not want to carry a Koppo for fear of it being considered merely a "fistload," or somehow associated with "Knuckles," well, now you have camouflage, tell them it is a Kubotan-like device.

Before anyone comments on price or anything like that, I have to cast some illumination on some of you that do not own one of James' Titanium Sticks that he makes, of which the Koppo is only one...the holes are countersunk on the other side so the knots are not sticking out, attention to detail is the phrase that comes to mind. No haphazard stuff here. No sharp edges to fray the ParaCord over time. First Rate stuff.

There is no picture available as it does not exist yet. Six people step forward. Make it a reality...

Here is an idea though, to get you started.

Well, count me in. $75 isn't that much anyway. Sounds like it would be a cool addition to what I carry regularly.

Well, we might have to tweak the length a bit, it might have to be nearly 6 inches when it is all said and done...but it will certainly be more effective than alot of other similar devices on the market.

Might as well count me in too Don. Hell, it's been over a year since I've bought anything from James anyway.

I want mine to have some sort of cool color mix, like bronze and purple. Would that be do-able?

Mr. G.,

James and I discussed that as well yesterday. I am the one that advised him, because I have carried a couple of these Ti sticks extensively in the pocket and the anodizing will wear off after some time. And I am sort of pushing him to just polish these or bead blast them because of this. It will receive alot of contact with the inside of your pocket.

Yet, if you insist, he can anodize them.

Hi Don! I'll jump in for two of these - one for me and one for my wife! I'll take 'em any color James wants to provide, but I'd just as soon have 'em bead blasted to a dull finish.

thanks! Bob

If the interest grows by 2 more and you guys are solid in your decision, you need to call or drop James an E-mail about this Thread or call him.

Standard will be Brushed Silver Finish and your choice of 5.5 or 6 inch length.

Hi Don,

You know already, but thought I'd post here too in case it prods someone else into ordering....I confirmed my order for 2 w/James yesterday.

I like pocket sticks. I hate "keychain" pocket sticks for the simple reason that the keys whip into the hand on execution of the basic hammerfist strike-cutting and painfully gouging finger and knuckles.

If I carry, I carry a plain old original Kubotan (sans keyring swivel) or a Mini-Maglite. I mainly carry my old Kubotan for finger dexterity exercises, my mini-mag in holster for nighttime illumination.

I think the pocket meteor and eda koppo sticks look great and are probably the highest expression of the pocket stick in terms of material and workmanship, but they are too $$ for such a simple weapon.

Adding a keyring to a koppo stick might make it more legal, but it makes it a "hand opener."

I'll take a scratch from the keys, I have never been gouged or cut by them when hitting a heavy bag with a Kubotan.

As for the expense, nice things are often expensive, I keep saying that and I wish it would catch on. There are many things in the world that cost more when something less expensive would do.

There are alot of little things James does with everything, on the Titanium Sticks, he has great attention to detail, the cords won't wear because he rounds everything off, including the inside/outside of the drilled holes so the cords do not wear. The knots are flush, the finish is great. I have beat the piss out of mine, don't judge his work by this pic. I have beat the hell out of that Koppo and it has been abused. The other pic of the one that is still anodized is alot better idea of what he is capable of.

On a lighter note, thanks for slamming him on the price, nothing like starting out the day with some compliments and then another slam. Considering this is about the cost of a half decent, not great pocketknife, I don't see where these Titanium Sticks are so out of line when it comes to price.

Of course, there is a Conga Line of people who thinks he should just cut his prices and give them things...

Not slamming him on the price. You get what you pay for right? I shoulda said, "too expensive for ME for such a simple weapon."

A loaded Kubotan keychain will definitely gouge pretty deeply using, short, shocking blows on either end, but I guess that's just the price to pay for legal carry.

No probs with key-gouge with thrusting/pushing type strikes to soft parts (e.g. throat, eye areas) though.

Guess, I'm just a wuss. I don't like opening my hand to bloodborne pathogens if I can help it.

I think a more practical design would be to attach a keyring to "monkey fist" knot lanyard attached to a pocket meteor. Then you've got a pretty nice short sap in legal "kubotan" configuration with swinging potential at either end. Keyflail on one end, blunt force on the other.

I still have never encountered a problem with the keys ripping me open on a hammerfist strike per se.

You got some of the brunt of punishment that alot of other people deserve more.

It seems "en vogue" for people to stop in this Forum or others like Emerson's, from time to time, just to let the people know about high prices and "not getting your money's worth" or some such rot.

And some of them have held these things in their hands, most have not. Same goes with everyone else's forums and the various people that have stopped by merely to slam.

I read a post where one guy stopped by the Emerson Forum merely to proclaim how much more superior the Chris Reeve Sebenza was...then go on to slam Emerson, his knives, pricing and Quality Control.

The funny thing was, if Emerson makes such a rotten product, why did this person feel the overbearing desire to stop in there at all?

So, I apologize if I was a tad nasty. People that tend to come off that way get on my nerves a bit.

Someone told me the other day that people were butchering JSP on Rec.Knives the other day. My response was, "what's new about anyone being butchered on Rec.Knives?"

See what I mean?

Hey Don! I've never been to the rec.knives site....guess this's another good reason not to! I sure hope we get another couplafolks to pony up here - you got me droolin for one of these!

Mr. Rearic,

Please don't misunderstand me. The reason that I am on this forum is that I admire the work and ingenuity of Mr. Piorek.

I also like the "spirit" of this discussion board. It's got an interesting and innovative (think OSS gadgets), spooky yet mean, vibe.

I wish you all the best with the Koppo stick keychain project. I just wanted to share my impressions and some of my experience for whatever it's worth.

BTW, how are the Ti flat sticks coming along?
Any chance of an "iron ruler" variation? Now THAT'S something I'd buy for a dollar!

Makarios,

The Flat Sticks are available I believe, give James a call to see, and I'm sure that he would appreciate further input when it comes to the "Ruler Project."

And yeah, we have the shadowy, Cloak & Dagger, OSS/SOE/CIA, mean, Weaselcraft vibe happening...because sadly, it looks like we will all be carrying very small and sneaky things in this New Millennium. Always new laws coming down...

Just talked to James last night and verified my order for "The Ultimate Keychain". Oh yeah!

And my CKB-Alpha's are coming soon...hehehehe!

Damn you, Don!

Looks like I'm going to be spending more money.

I should have never come back here to the JSP forum. Too much cool stuff.

Put me down for at least one. I'm going to ask around my training group to see if anyone is willing to drop the coin on one of these pieces.

I'll let you guys know by the middle of next week how many I'll be getting.

Damn!

OK, what's a good story to tell the woman in your life why you NEED another P9/ Kubotan/ pocket stick/ keychain/ etc.?

L8r,

Steve
