The left hook:

A way some might not already know to open a right-handed sebbie with your left hand, if it's only got a single right hand stud. Thought I'd share for fun, and anyone brand-new to CRK. This gives you a way to deploy with your left hand while your right hand is in the popcorn bowl in front of the tube, or if it's been bitten off by a grizzly bear and you're fighting for your life. I suppose it would also work for Southpaws who own right-handed knives. Even on my Sebenzas with dual studs, I still prefer this method if I'm opening the blade with my left, because my left hand thumb isn't as calloused as my right thumb for deploying the normal way with the left-hand stud (and besides the cut-out for the left stud on a right-hand knife is pretty meager :thumbdn:).

Hold the knife in your left hand against your left middle finger, pressing with your left thumb, 'Idaho Made' end towards your palm, and hook the stud with your left index finger and the knife will hinge open and pivot into your palm. A few reruns of The Rockford Files later, you'll have it licked. Practice makes perfect. ;)

Thanks for sharing, I have never thought about opening my large 21 like that. I use my left hand to open my 25 a lot. Don't know why, I'm right handed.

LOL LOL:D Now that's funny Birdhunter!! Great Post Cody!! I am a leftie and do not have any left handed knifes.. Poor investment from my experience.

Not only is this great information ( I like the grizzly touch) but I have always wondered what your left hand looks like. :-)

I just hook my index finger under the stud and point. My index finger nail actually contacts the stud and the knife is held normally throughout. To close just flip the knife over, release with your thumb and close with your index finger.

I like to use my left middle finger to open the blade partially and open the rest with the thumb, I also found this easier than the left hand thumb stud.

This is what I did before I put in some after market double studs. Found that to be the best way with a single, keeps your hand in position the whole time.

I like that as well but my thumb comes too close to the edge. If I go all the way open with the middle finger the thumb is out of harm's way.

With the talk of double versus single-studs, and the lack of access to the left stud on a right handed CRK, I though I bump this thread for an alternative method of left-hand open on a right sebenza.

Fellow southpaw here, thanks for sharing! I tried it and it works pretty well! Here is how I open mine.

Thumb and index finger on the pivot screw. Middle finger against the lug.

Flick! If it doesn't lock into place, then use thumb or index finger on the lug to finish.

Its the equivalent of a right handed thumb flick. You don't need much pressure and its super fast to deploy the blade.

Cody, very nice tip. But what I really want to know is how are you getting reruns of the Rockford Files!!! :)

Netflix. It's really cool for about six or seven episodes, but then you remember why we closed down that decade. :D

I have another method where I hold it upside down by the blade and flick it open, but have never posted pics of it. It involves flipping the knife in the air and catching it, so I don't want to be liable if one of you sticks yourself. :p

Is this the one you do with three knives at once? :D
