The Les George Knives Thread

Gotcha. One VECP is enough for the likes of me. But, maybe something would be of interest.

I almost jumped on that other maker's whaleshark, I dunno why, it's close enough to the sharksfoot I shouldn't be tempted. Anyway, I think they're gone, thankfully. I could definitely drink and order in a weak moment. LOL

lets hope the flippers dont try to grab them all and squeeze couple hundred more out of the suckers who are willing to pay it. ive been paying attention to who's trying to make money off collector and fans and who are actually collector and fans.

Saw one of last year's 12 days Talos for like $800 the other day and all the comments were talking about what a steal it was and how lucky someone would be to snag it for that price

I hate the flipping culture and do not participate in it, but as someone who will be trying to snag one of those VECPs tomorrow it does provide some peace of mind spending $550 knowing that people will talk about what a great deal it is if I sell it for $800 later.

its worth 550......if it was worth more Les would be charging more. its only flippers who try to corner the market and create artifical demand.

im just glad I do okay workin, that i dont need to rip off passionate collectors and fans to make a living or support my hobbies.

I've said that about many, many knives that I no longer own today. I would never buy something with intentions of immediately selling it for more, but my interests and tastes change. My first Les George was a Talos. I later bought a VECP and sold it soon after because I liked the Talos better. I've since sold the Talos and currently own a different VECP that I'm quite fond of. If I score one tomorrow I'll probably sell my current VECP because I don't need two. I sold a D7 Servo to fund a Myna that I was sure I would like better...the Myna never spoke to me and I don't own it anymore. I know myself too well to say I won't sell something even if that is my mindset when I buy it.

Agreed. I also lay some blame on the people paying the flipper prices, but if I had more money than I knew what to do with I'd probably be guilty of that too.

I was shocked to see those Talos going for $950 last year too. I honestly think it was because one person who was buying everything up at the time way overpaid a flipper and then once others saw it they started selling there’s for that price and those that had to have them paid it. All the previous 12 day LGs were hand ground. This year’s isn’t but people still go ape 💩 for morphs so we shall see.

Not defending the seller, but the Talos was a different animal. Hand ground by the man himself and a very limited quantity. These VECPs are beautiful, but they don't appear to be hand ground and the quantity is much higher I'm sure.

I understand the differences, but at this point in the market I'd guess "12 days limited run" is the selling point and price inflator just as much as any specific details about the knife itself. If there are 500 knives for tomorrow (I'd assume much fewer) people will be selling them a year from now saying "only 500 made!!"
