The little things

I go a hundred miles an hour, in daily life. So when I go hiking, its stop to smell the flowers time.
Trying to get my 8 year old daughter to slow down on our hikes is another story, but I'm getting to her.:)
We do most of our hikes in the fall. I love the cool air and the smells. I'm always telling her to stop and just take a slow deep breath in and smell the fall air. Look around, SEE your surroundings, its not a race.
Now, she is starting to see things while hiking, that I missed:o

Went for a walk in a park a short while ago on a foggy morning. The world seemed covered with the most amazing spiderwebs.

On a similar note, I found a spider out in the yard last week. looked closely at it for what must have been 15 minutes. Amazing creature. Of course, he was wrapping up his lunch, which was extra cool.

I make every outing with the kids a scavenger hunt. I give them a list of things to find before we make it out. That keeps us all looking all around.
