The Long Dark Knight

Either way, IMO Christian Bale is the best live-action Batman so far, and JACK was the best Joker.

I was really dissappointed in Danny DeVito's Penguin, as I thought he'd be perfect for the role. I don't know if it was his acting, the writing, or he just didn't get enough screen time to develope the character.

I like the action of the Bale Batman movies, but prefer the scenes from the Tim Burton films, more surrealistic.

I was under the impression that Batman used to shoot bad guys with a 1911...
Didnt he carry a pistol in the early years of the comic?

The idea of not killing the killers seems like the crazy part to me. If you are going to enforce the law, then you are going to be shot at and there is no good reason to risk your own life to save the lives of bad guys who are trying to kill you, unless of course you are trying to make a martyr of yourself. Your standard, run of the mill Police officer carries a pistol and uses it when he needs to. Why would a super hero cripple himself in such a way?
You cant blame it on his "ninja" training. I promise you, they have no such rules...

I will say that I was impressed with the fact that the new batsuit and batmobile were not props. They were the real deal.

Capt. America also used a pistol in the early days of his comics when he was fighting the Nazis.

I actually quite enjoyed DeVito as the Penguin myself. It HAS been a while since I saw that particular film though.

He did a good job with what he did.
I guess it was his writing and lack of screen time, but I expected there to be a lot more flip/flop between cute/psycho moments.

Dunno, I think a lot of the time our expectations probably taint our view of a movie more than they should.

I was just thinking that Gary Oldman did a pretty good Joker character himself. They didnt call him the joker, but his character in The Professional was pretty much that.

Don't apologize for it. It's our expectations that get us into the theaters. None of these movies is a stand-alone, they feed off the legend, the tradition of the characters, the video games, even.

The movie-makers have to show us something that fits all this, builds on it, shows us the vision in a new story, shows us actors who bring a new understanding to the characters we know.

If they can't exceed our expectations, they should step aside and let someone else take over the franchise! :D

You folks might think me mad, but if I had a time machine and a movie studio, I would like to have seen a young Little Richard as the Joker. They're practically the same person, except one could play piano! :D

Joker killed numerous people in The Dark Knight, as least two at contact distance.

Ledger did an incredible job as The Joker, but the movie was much too long, partially because the characters needed to stop and talk about their motivations too often.

Part of the reason the movie drags, is because the writers didn't allow Batman to do the right thing when the movie should have ended, at least 45 minutes before the actual end.

Freeman, Oldman, and Bale all do great jobs, but Ledger probably pulled off his best role ever.
