It is great to see what everyone carries in the "What Are You Totin" thread. But, what is your main edc group? I'll occasionally switch it up, but for the majority of the time this is my group. If your interested, and want to show, let's say your top 5, but hey, if you have a 20 knife rotation show us.

My main rotation is now just a few knives that I have left after numerous downsizing. They are also most treasured because of the far that they were from fellow forumite that I consider friends/family. The exception is the little Vic classic that is the constant on my keyring.

The Sardinian resolza, the Northwoods stockman, and the Italian guava are my main go-to pocket knives these days. If I go to the woods, there's a larger fixed blade that goes along. That's it. I'll never be a one knife man, but this is as close as I'm gonna come. These made the cut because go both effectiveness as cutters, and sentimental feelings of the friends they represent.

I carry my stag #73 every day, but occasionally I'll supplement it with one of these.

Christian ~ Ive got a 73 single in cocobolo coming that I plan to throw in the mix. I looked for a stag. I just couldn't find one I liked. Maybe one day one will pop up as nice as yours. Stag is tricky.

Jackknife ~ How long is that Northwoods stockman? Love the grain on that.

Here is the most used so far in my very young traditional knife experience. One of the peanuts comes along every day, and one of the bigger ones goes in a slip. I sorted the non-peanuts in the first pic in order from most often carried to least from top to bottom. I think this will change as I get more experienced with my likes and needs, and how this changes seasonally. Lots of gardening this summer; strawberries, apples and cabbage shared with my daughter and our dog outside.
Some beautiful knives in this thread so far; thanks for sharing them!

Vic Alox Cadet daily. Sometimes I carry a second knife with it, lately I haven't been. This year the #2 slot has been primarily occupied by a Case Small Texas Jack (first 4 months), Buck 303 (the next 3 months), recently a Case 6318 occasionally replaces the Buck 303. Weekends I may go for a Case Trapper or GEC Powderhorn Jack.

I don't have pics to show.

I usually have one of my two damascus Case peanuts, both gifts from members here. I also have my Case Tribal Spear. I just won a Queen Country Cousin on the Knife Journal podcast, and have begun carrying that. I usually have my Tidioute 47 Viper and Victorinox black alox Farmer floating around my truck. Mainly my peanut and Tribal Spear. I've found that the peanut is the only true model I really use.

Also, I have begun carrying a Cabelas bandanna in my pocket over my peanuts.

Interesting thread concept Brett. I don't have a regular rotation, but instead like to change up my carry on just about a daily basis. That wasn't always the case as at one time I carried the same knife everyday for several years. At some point though (probably when I could finally afford it) I started buying more knives and wanted to carry each of them until I settled into a pattern of rotating through all of my knives on a routine basis. Most days I just grab what appeals to me that day, but I do factor in whether or not I've carried it lately.

I've posted before that I don't really consider myself a collector because I carry and use every knife I purchase, but as I do own a lot of knives, others might consider me a collector and maybe I am. It's fascinating to me to learn about others collecting and carry preferences. The wide variety of how everybody goes about this hobby of ours is interesting to me, so even though I don't really qualify to participate in this thread I do look forward to reading through everyone's responses. Thanks again.

Very nice group there! :thumb up: How do you like the S&M spear? I've been looking at one and am not sure what to think. I'm a GEC man, generally, but I'm looking to try something new. I've also read many of your posts--you may be responsible for me buying a GEC #73. :) While it has not kicked my #42 trapper out of my pocket/ belt sheath, it is a fine knife (mine is an ebony two bladed scout, with "un-x-ld" stamped into the main blade).

Thanks.

And OP, cool thread. Here is a pick of my edc, really--everyday!

Thanks Stephen and Aias. One of the reasons I thought this may work is because it allows for some comparisons between different knives I don't own, but may be interested in. Or, for others wanting, needing, the same. Plus, I just think it is cool to see a group of used (worked) knives. :)

Aias - I love that knife.

Sonnemann ~ that is a great group!

Baldy ~ Awesome 85s! Ive been curious of a side by side shot with a 15. Thanks for sharing those.

Great idea for a thread Brett. Stephen saved me a lot of time typing as I am the same as him on my rotation and using/collecting.

The stockman is just a tad, a wee skoash, under 4 inches closed. The smoothly rounded off bolsters give it an even more compact feel. I'm not really sure just what the wood is on the scales, but I'm guessing some sort of rosewood? Anyone know for sure, don't feel bashful about letting me know. :D

Brett, thanks--I really do try to carry one of the many other GEC's I have (just north of 10, I think), as well as a few others from Buck, but I just can't leave that one behind. Maybe it's the #13 on the bolster (I was born on the 13th), or maybe it just fits my hand perfectly... not sure. I find the the grinds on the two #42 trappers and the #42 trader are just a bit better that the grinds/ geometry on my #73 and the couple #23's I have--what can I say, I play favorites!

BTW, love your collection too--we have similar tastes.

Anthony

Brett, just snapped another pick for you with my custom sheath made by Carl Thomas (leather and Cane toad inlays)...

Thanks. I got lucky with this one as it was a gift, bought blindly by my wife.

The blade is a bit thick compared to a similarly sized GEC, but I like it a lot. I enjoy its classic looks. With the ebony covers and iron bolsters it could almost pass for a knife from a hundred years ago.

I'm glad you got a #73. They're really nice knives, just about the perfect size. Small enough to carry comfortably, yet large enough to get a good grip on. I hope that GEC makes a run with clip point blades.

That would certainly inspire me to spend more money! Christian, thanks for the info--how's the pull on the back spring?

My #42 trapper may be my favorite, but it took a lot of work to break it in, to get it comfortable. I even sent it back to GEC to have it adjusted--the pull on the skinner was nearly a 10! The clip blade was 8-9... both of which were a little daunting for edc. Now both are about a 7, a temperamental 7 however. It is quite manageable, but does require a bit of attention.

Great thread idea Brett  I'm going to have to think about this one, Bladeforums has turned me into such a Blade Tart! :D My Radio Jack is certainly in there at the moment, I've been carrying it a lot lately, and there's a few others I just can't resist going back to. I'll get back to you on this! ;)

I'm very touched Carl, and that means a lot to me my friend :) I also like to carry knives gifted to me, they are the ones which mean the most to me, and the only ones I really care about keeping :) I always feel guilty about having beautiful knives that don't get carried as often as they deserve to be :)

Me too Mark! :D

Very nice sheath Aias. I certainly would have to get a sheath if I ever get a 42. Cant see the 42 going in a front pocket and the 81 is pretty much stuck in my back pocket. Glad you got yours to where it needed to be. I have heard great things about their customer service. I have a Charlow that wont snap shut all that I have been meaning to send them. Thanks for sharing.

Jack Black ~ cant wait to see but understand if there isn't really a rotation.

My pleasure--they are pretty receptive at GEC; e-mail them first, then send it in. Best, Anthony
