The Manix is one of my favorite models from Spyderco. I own 5 of them and 2 of them click. Just got a new REX45 Manix in yesterday and it clicks right out of the box. I know it doesn't affect function or lockup, but it bugs my OCD. Anyone else's Manix have that click when you first push the blade open?

Yes I've experienced that although I'm not sure what percentage. 2 out of 5 seems low to me. I thought most clicked.

Yup...

My Super Special Blue s110v Manix 2 Kerberos Edition does the same thing.

:D

My DLT M390, CS s90v, and M4 ones are so smooth, no inkling of a click. My REX45 and S110v have a very audible click. I know, I'm funny like that. I don't think it bothers me enough to sell though. Blade not centered? I'm selling. Lockup not solid, I'm selling. Blade clicks when opening? Well, I'll have to think about that one.

It's one of my favorites too. My very first Manix in S30V came that way but it is the only one of the 5 that I own that does. The M4 ... 51200 ... and both Rex 45 LW and G10 are all click free.

Odd that 2 out of 5 of mine do it. I was wondering if anyone else had the click too! Glad to know I'm not the only one...

Well now look what you've done ... made me check them all closer ... the LW Rex 45 has a slight click! o_O

It's hard to hear but if I open it real slowly I can.

My M2XL has the click, but it doesn’t bother me. Just part of the mechanical mystique.

No, the decent is the ball bearing itself that locks into the blade. I think it’s the little coil spring that is doing the actual clicking.

Been looking at Manix 2’s lately. How do you like them?

My only complaint with the Manix is that it's kind of a pocket hog. It's still my favourite Spyderco, because I like the blade, the lock, and it fits my hand. It's just a good all around working knife.

I just bought a Manix 2 today. I was looking for a new knife to take on little outdoor trip amongst friends in a state where fixed blades are frowned up, but I wanted to make sure I took a folder that would not only handle what few knife chores I would be doing but also wouldn't freak anyone out. I don't know all of the people going, and I figured a big scary knife might be frowned upon by some. So, 3 and a quarter inches of blade, friendly dark blue G10 handle, useful in shape but not really threatening looking, and (most importantly) won't fail on me if I press it into a bit harder service. Absolutely nothing "tactical" about it to upset people, but I dunno if I own a folding knife that locks up so solidly.

This is my frist "higher end" Spyderco in nearly a decade as I have been using and abusing the budget lines here and there on the job on in the yard. I tend to carry folders in the $150-$450 range, but it was only recently that I stumbled across a local dealer that handles a lot brands, including Spyderco, so I could feel how the knives felt in hand. So far, I love everything about the Manix 2. It's stout yet pocketable, great steel, fantastic company, and just about the perfect size for an EDC that can handle office work to going off grid for a weekend.

Anyway, absolutely no click with mine.

My G10 Manix 2 clicks slightly, my Lightweight didn't that I can remember (sold it, just didn't grow to love it and I hate wire clips so...), and my Blade HQ XL clicks. Doesn't bother me, because nothing is affected. It seems random as to which ones do and don't. Some people were saying there might be some flashing on the ball cage's rod that goes into the spring, which may rub and click. I haven't opened either of mine up to see, but as long as the knife works fine its no big deal to me. My regular does seem like it's not as loud as it used to be, so maybe whatever is rubbing has worn down a little. or my XL is just super loud.

Great knives either way. Stout and great cutters, and great values!

That makes me want to get a Manix 2 even more, lol. :)

It is a well built Spyderco midsize-large folder with a solid lock and one of the most ergonomic folders for sabre grip, but not so for other grips. It is priced better than most other Spyderco knives. Now the not so great asides of it (to me): the CCBL lock could be difficult to disengage (definitely more difficult than Axis lock), and the knife when closed is very tall (one of the tallest) thus taking up too much pocket space.

On the original topic of this thread, yes - I remember 2 of the 5 that I owned had the click sound though it was barely audible. Never thought too much about it until this thread.

For what they cost compared to some of the other Spydercos, I have been floored playing around with this all day. The local shop had mine marked down to about $180. Its the blue G10 model. Its a few bucks more than ordering online, but i got to handle the knife first, support local business, and walk out the door with knife in hand.

However, for the money, I dunno if I remember a better value in the $100-$200 knife range. Super solid, super sharp. It is a pretty wide knife in the pocket. However, most of the time, I only use my pocket to carry my knife as it is. Width isn't an issue for me. I will say that it going to take me some time for muscle memory to develop closing it. I keep thumbing for a frame lock or liner or fumbling around for a back lock like on my Native and Endura :D

Anyway, sorry about the drift. Im just really enjoying the Manix 2. I dont get too excited about many sub $400 pocket knives these days, but this Spyderco really bowled me over. My has no clicking at all.
