The Market Value of a Knife

Good info Codger!
I have noticed that some of the prices are coming down on a lot of the stuff. I am able to get some things that 2 months ago were above my self-imposed price limit.

The deals will be in the knives, love 'em or hate 'em, like the 49OT Rhino, the 6OTX, 7OTX, SQ877, and some of the other "space debris" varients that were only produced for a short while. And then, only for a collector trying to get a truly representative collection, complete a series, or have some cheap, functional users with the Schrade U.S.A. name on them.

Codger - longwinded as always.

Mike,
you mentioned 60TX & 70TX. From what I have been able to tell from the listings on ebay there is no discernable difference. I have a 60TX, a 60TXG, & a 70TXBU and the only difference I can see is the color. Was there a number change from 60 to 70 at some point in time? I notice all that are listed in the 2004 price list are 70 numbers, (70TX, 70TXB, 70TXG, & 70TXBU). I assume the 60 series was prior to 2004.

Thanks,
Dale

Yes, the 6OTX was introduced in 2003. The 7OTX in 2004 and the 6OTX was dropped. The 6 has a thumb disc, the 7 a stud. The 6 has a straight spine coming off the handle, the 7 a thumbrest rises above the line of the handle. I own neither, but I think they have been posted here. And one was shown broken down into components and fasteners. The 6OTX was made for a full year, and the 7OTX about a half a year. There are really fewer of them out and about than the current market glut and price would indicate. Plus, they seem to have been a marketing failure of sorts, as a forum search will indicate.

Wow, you are right. :o
I didn't notice the difference (that is what I get for looking at them still in the plastic sleeve). The 70TX has a much more secure feeling in my hand, due to the thumbrest on the back of the blade. The 60TX feels much less secure, which might account for their lack of popularity, along with the fact that they were a new product.

Once again you knew the answer.

Thanks,
Dale

Only knew it because Larry and Phil have discussed them not too long ago.
