I had the pleasure of viewing the original of this one

last February in The Bowie Knife; A Sure Defense exhibit at The Arkansas History Museum and knew at the time that I wanted to build a duplicate. I used W2 for the blade. The handle scales are apple wood to match the originals (I used an antique finish on them) with fine silver furniture.

Thanks, everyone. I had a lot of fun with this one. Making these old 19th century reproductions has taught me a lot, especially with my silversmithing skills. A big thank you to Mark Zaleski for giving me the photos & measurements which enabled me to accurately reproduce his knife.

Glad that you liked it.

Gary
