I think the #1 contender so far for the coveted Bladeforums 2013 Dumbest Name of the Year Award is the Microtech "D.O.C. (Death on Contact) Killswitch."

Other possible runners up include:

1. Brous Blades "The Coroner"
2. Cold Steel "Chaos Tanto"
3. Buck "Reaper (with Viper Snakeskin handles)"

LOL who comes up with this crap?

Do we have any others I am missing? I know we still have 6 more months of goodness to come. Maybe next we will get the Specops Ninja Death Poker with Pirranha Fang handle scales, but I can only dream.

BTW, from a civil liability standpoint, if you did have to defend yourself with your Microtech Death on Contact Killswitch I have a feeling it may be hard to convince a jury that you are carrying it to cut up your lunch ;)

I actually like the look of that knife the microtech but you definitely just made me laugh lol thank you sir

Another candidate could be the CRKT "Endorser"

I mean seriously? The "Endorser"?

Does it sign my checks?

Not something I'd be interested in based on the name alone.

For every 1 person that hates it, there are 5 mall ninjas getting their wings. ;)

No, it doesn't sign your checks, it's a knife. What it does is put in a good word for you when your name is taken in vain.

I wholly agree with this. Not even looking at prices though; the coroner has those stupid sawbacks I've never found useful, that cold steel knife is obviously meant to be a trench knife but lord forbid they call it such, and the Buck "Reaper" just looks sad and probably fails just as quick as any other folder.

As cheesy as the name is, I'd say it's my favorite of the knives I own (granted, I own the flipper and not the "Killswitch" version).

Edit: Oh wait, I forgot that BladeForums hates Microtech. So just ignore my comment, as I must be a "mall ninja".

CRKT Swindle is a competitor. Why would you call your knife a scam? Seems like poor marketing.

It really is a ridiculous name. That said, dkb45 makes a good point. I mean, calling your knife the Death On Contact Killswitch(wow, I feel bad even typing that) you are at least theoretically appealing to the mall ninja, weekend warrior, keyboard tough guy, wannabe badass types...but who are CRKT trying to appeal to by calling their knife a swindle? I mean, afaik most people try to avoid buying things that they know is a scam...

Microtech death on contact!!! :glee:

Very fitting for the produce of the unscrupulous, I'm sure mall ninjas will suck it up together with all the spec ops lies.

I'm not sure why you'd even want to name a knife company micro tech.

I find some of Busse's names to be downright silly. The DOC is a stupid name, I didn't know that's what it stood for. The knife had a lot of potential but looking at it in person just ruined it. I hate the blade profile. And the price is pretty steep.

Totally agree, the new knife looks pretty cool, and microtech non-autos seem to be there least problem knives,
but "DEATH ON CONTACT" GOTTA GO WITH THE DUMBES'T name EVER...and it got the collaberation knife ot the year????
sure wasn't the name, the name alone has kept me from buying one, and I have the cash for knives!!! looks cheap ,at least they could have done some little touche's like blueing the handle screws aka Whale sharks.....

thanks for being here

That's a pretty terrible name. God forbid you're carrying it and have a nosy cop hassle you about carrying a deadly weapon. Saying it was just a useful tool in court wouldn't get you far when it's all but named the Microtech Murder knife . . .

That said, how can the company that produced the lol-worthy Jagdkommando ever surprise anyone with their feats of sillyness.

Hay Greg, gotta agree with all that attention knives and some of the names that are given them.....after all the press about the non knife public
that would decide burry stick it too you .Death on contact.... what is the blade treated with poison ??

Good Goin Mictotech!!

I was really interested in the DOC for awhile. I didnt realize what DOC stood for until a bladeshow video on the tube.

I didnt realize it had aluminum handles either in which broke off the deal for me. I think the name is quite stupid but then again i bet a lot of microtech fans love it. Not many MT knives speak to me, although I know their built quality they scream cheap and cheesy to me.

Just my 0.02, I love a lot of their OTF's though!
