The Mighty Tek-Lok

I agree $9-$12 isn't much money but it is on top of what we pay for a knife that isn't designed to be worn on a belt which most people use to carry their knifes. Not ranting but I've bought hundreds of knives in my lifetime and several RATS and RATS are the only ones that don't work with belts with out buying something else.

Not sure where your coming from with this one.

The Izula is the only knife available from RAT WITHOUT a belt mounting option. And you get a molle lock if you spring for the kit.

Molle locks, clip back, molle back. They all come with some method of belt attachment.

i've bought knives in the past also, and most of the sheaths were crap. a quite a few
knive's nowaday's cost more than the rat's, and you then have to purchase a sheath.
the molle lok's are not that great on thicker belt's, but i think even with the tek-loks
running between 9 and 15 dollars the rat knives are still a good deal. and the rat sheath's
are great. oh and rat sell's the tek-lok's.

I have the RC-3 and RC-6 (Izula) none of the knives came with a way to carry on a belt except for the Molle Lok which work well on Molle system but not on a thicker belts. I could buy a thinner belt but I like a pistol belt. I don't include para cord as a valid carry system because of the lack of durability. I'm not saying I can't buy add on items like RAT sells just that I have not fogured out how to carry my RC-6 or RC-3 with out using para cord loops. Izula I just put it in my front pocket. BTW I have 4 molle Lok and will trade for 1 Large Tek-Lock. I have an order of Kydex on it's way so this point will soon be moot.

Hi Mrs. Shot,

I just got my new Tek-Lok with the built in safety and I love it. My questions is I see you put the little washers on with your Tek-Lok but to me it seems to fit ok without them. What do you recommend and why? Thanks again for all your help.

Are you referring to the rubber spacers? If so, I use them to prevent the sheath from canting away from the tec-loc. In any event I use some blue Loktite on the screw threads. Here are some pics of one of my Izulas, which lies flat to the tec-loc-no spacers, and one of my Landi PSK's that does not, hence the spacers...

I hope this helps,

I'm Mr. Shotty;)

If it works for you without the washers I'd say no harm no foul. I use them when needed to put some space between the tek-lok and the sheath to keep the angle right. It also allows for slight irregularities in the sheath. Sometimes, when you bolt on a tek-lok, it'll warp the sheath a bit and make your draw and insertion a little tighter. The washers correct that a bit.

I like the Tek-Lok especially wih the spacers because it holds the knife & sheath further away from my side, so it doesn't dig into me.

I also like to set the Tek-Lok to open upwards -- easier to unlock and remove it.

I like the further away thing because of my 55 yo love handles.

Would the large or small tek lok be better for the Izula?

i actually use the small tek lok with my izula. the only way it fits puts the izula at an angle when you carry it. i wear mine strong sided and point angled forward and down. I'll have to take pics of this when i get the chance. The large tek lok would be better for most people, since it'll give you more carry options. I like the small because it's a small knife, and this allows me to edc it without being too bulky. IMO the large would make it a bit bulky

Check my pics earlier in this thread. There are a few options.:)

wow, my bad. i have no idea how i missed your post. Thanks though, never thought of putting both screws through that top slit on the sheath. I put one screw through the middle hole and the second through the top slit. Another mistake, i carry it tip forward and UP, not down.
