The Military and how a possible fake almost dissuaded me

Spotted a really lousy Mili fake at a local gun show. The dealer said it was not right because it was a factory second. I showed him these to compare and he agreed his was fake.

A couple years ago, before I was bitten by the Spyderco bug, a good friend purchased a Military off of either Amazon or eBay and proceeded to show it to me. My initial thoughts were that it had a badly off-center blade, a very tight and gritty pivot, slick G10, a dull blade, and maybe a bit of lock rock. I was wondering why he spent over 150-something dollars for this mess of a knife when I was scouting some very attractive options in the then 90-130 dollar range from another American manufacturer. The funny thing is I remember he spent a lot of time and effort worrying and researching online whether it was a fake and he was partially convinced that it was a fake. I don't think he ever even tried to return it.

Time passed and I moved and don't see that friend much anymore. Fortunately in that time span, I stumbled across the PM2 in my local knife shop, officially giving me the bug and leading me to purchase as many as 10 different Spydercos, yet I never pulled the trigger on the Military. Well, while browsing at my local knife shop over the weekend, something caught my eye that I thought I'd give a chance.

I gotta say I really like this knife and glad I finally got serious about giving a legitimate one a shot. It handles and feels different than that first one I remember handling, and this one screams quality. The ergonomics are outstanding, and it's screaming sharp. I also think the black/camo combo is pretty cool and something different than what I already have. I paid a few more bucks for it, but it's extremely satisfying knowing that I don't have to worry if it's real. The moral of the story is that a possible fake could've turned me off from Spydercos for good, and the extra few dollars are always worth it. With the constant threads wondering whether someone's PM2 or Military is real, I thought it'd be a good time to show how I came full circle on a knife that initially had me fooled. Buy from reputable dealers, if at all possible.

Now I'm wondering about any potential sprints that may be in the future. :) What combo would you like to see?

I use my Millie to control the walking dead, a little poke right between the eyes doesn't even dull the blade. I think we need a whole series of different looking Walking Dead millie sprints.

Here of some pics of my Zombie destroyer.
