The MOAB..

good luck finding one. Not too common, and only up for sale when an owner needs to fund something else.

Post a want to buy in that sub forum, and see if some one wants to bite. If you think that the Busse Khukri will be "grossly overpriced" as per your other post, the price on a moab is really not going to make you happy (you will think it must be diamond coated instead of "platinum coated" )

I think the blade length is 13 inches. it's like a nmfbm with an extra inch, and 3/8" thick. Honestly, I don't think it will offer you enough to make the jump in price from nmfbm to moab worth it.

My custom order for one is coming up on it's 2 year 10 month mark.
 
they are big, which is why they are called MOAB, Mother Of All Bowies.

as to stalking you.......well, I can read, and I happened to read your other post first. Then I happened to have a long enough memory to remember that you had expressed a strong feeling that Busse knives were overpriced (something about Busse's being "ridiculously over priced" and only being worth it if they were "dipped in platinum"). Then I tried to answer your question by providing two websites that might have specs on the MOAB.

If that makes me a stalker, then so be it. Some one who has a MOAB will be along to tell you what the blade length is, but they might not post it for fear that you might call them a stalker.

if new to the whole smallish forum thing, one might not realize that people remember posts and names.

it is worth noting though that if you want very specific information and nothing else, you need to say as much. otherwise opinions will be given :)



at least it's better then the guy who was saying he'd put a restraining order on jerry because jerry emailed him trying to resolve a dispute on here. that was just plain silly.

I don't know how long it is, but looks like it has over 10" of blade.
 
Looks like its gotten some use since I handled it to make that sheath! cool!

That thing is a real beast, and the handle is awesome! Over 10" oh yea! close to 14" iirc

But Jaxx, what if I want a "thing"???? :p
 
I think there might be more than one out there if I remember correctly? Weren't there some custom shop ones floating around? and isin't there a picture of Skunk holding one with fake hillibilly teeth, and a skunk hat?

But Rat Finkenstien would be much more knowledgeable than I am, so maybe I am thinking of another knife. (but I will say that Mr. R. Finkenstein, you need to put another funny avatar up, that black square is freaking me out, I just know it is actually a picture of a dark room, and in the middle of it, you are staring out with night vision goggles, planing some dastardly deed.............Think the basement scene of Silence of the Lambs......with night vision goggles......
 
I not only ha a chance to see it - I got to hold it too :)

It is a beauty - and a real Monster! - But well balanced and actually quite functional - You just have to be carefull - hit you leg/arm/hand and you will cut it off!! :thumbup::D

I think it's a SK, I was trying to forget that picture! I couldn't sleep for a week after seeing it.:p
 
The slabs on Drew's MOAB are just beautiful.:eek: You're right about that, Dwayne.

As for the pic of DN...brother, you looked like a pup in those pictures. You must have gotten into Busses when you were pre-pubescent.;) :D

Good to have you back, though. No wonder you're into the fatty stuff. Holding blades like the MOAB might make me a chubby chaser, too. :D

I don't know about knowledgeable- but I have only ever seen the one MOAB, and it has the custom shop logo. Skunk's knife is the FOAB or something . . . I think it has a longer blade as well.

that was actually one of the Ruger bowies, the largest of the set that I know of. it's like the one on the far right of the first picture posted in this thread, but with a very hollow very saber grind, and quite a bit longer.

In past threads, I recall talk of as many as 3 moabs in existence, with a few in the works (at least mine and one other).
