One of my customers wanted a "monster" camp knife/machete, big enough to clear brush, or make a shelter, with a straight "vegie-chopping" edge.

He wanted, however, a W-2 hamon, and some "J. White" filework in Silicon Bronze. Says he'll make it a user, so, stabilized Claro Walnut.

A closer look at the handle area.

What are these things made of, anyway?

Enough playing with the computer, back to work,
Thanks for looking.

Mission accomplished! That is a beautiful beast. The silicon bronze works well with that gorgeous claro walnut. No doubt someone is a particularly happy camper today.

Oh, my. Love at first sight. That's SO awesome!

I LOVE that big, beautiful beast of a knife!!! CONGRATS to whomever owns it.

Karl, this walnut's stabilized with vacuum infused resin, to resist staining and splitting, but the crotch wood like this is much harder than straight grain, anyway, and would hold up well.
David, the W-2 hamon is the result of different crystal structure from the heat treatment, and is thru the steel. If the whole blade were scuffed up, you could still see the hamon, re-finishing and etching could bring the blade back to original.

Makes me want to rush out to the woods and cut something down.
Correction - cut anything!!!

Beautiful work, Mr. White

That is a beautiful chopper. What is the OAL? All I can say is WOW. Your customer will love it!!

Very good looking total package. I really need to get my hands on one of those style grips to feel it in action. nice palm swell, and the flare are the end of the handle seems like it would anchor the beast for good swinging, without hot spots.

Even though I've seen and held a lot of your knives, John(and, never seen one I didn't like); that one REALLY appeals to me. OUTSTANDING!

I normally am not into large knives, but this one is gorgeous. I especially like this style of handle and the hamon.

A true beauty. The happy owner is going to have some trouble taking those first few swings ... and making it a real user. :D;)
