The more and more I just like my Delica...

I'm starting to think that its useless to graduate to a different knife when just one knife works out so well. The delica is just an awesome all around pocket carry in the modern folder category.

I could agree with you, but I would change the knife to a Para2. I think lots of us could agree with you but we would each name a different knife. The problem is that Spyderco makes so many interesting models that we have to buy more than just one. My EDC rotation had 4 different brands in it, but Spyderco is gradually taking over and increasing its percentages.

It's great to have a knife you really keep on liking...especially when it's around 50 bucks! I can't tell you how many times my satisfaction with cheaper knives has fueled me to sell my more expensive ones. It's like an endless cycle of sickness - but I ain't goin to the doctor.

I feel the same way, kinda. While the Delica remains my preferred EDC, it doesn't stop me from buying new blades, especially other Spydies. After I carry a new knife for a while I still come back to the Delica and I'm reminded why I like it so much. That's why I have 3 of them.

In total agreement here. I sold two sprint PM2's, (kept a black and satin version just to have one), keeping my 2 versions of the Domino, but really think that my Delicas (currently numbering 4 of 'em) will pretty much do any of the small jobs I actually use a pocket knife for on a regular basis.

They're easier to carry for sure! I sold my domino just recently. Its a perfect beautiful knife. But the Delica is just a good work knife. And that has a lot of value in and of itself!

Although I have a PM2 that I'm very happy with, the only other knife I want right now is the Delica. A simple lock back that feels great in the hand and I will be buying one in a few weeks.

I completely understand this - for me, it's the Kershaw Leek. It was the first nice knife that I had, and although I've since had many much higher-end knives, I find I have to have at least one of them. I sold or gave away the few I had for a while, and kept missing it, so I just picked up a new composite blackwash model. It's nice to have a reminder of what your ideal EDC form is, even if you keep aspiring to nicer knives.

Got to agree, the Delica is quite possibly the best EDC knife design ever. I say that and I don't even carry one. Today, I carried a ZT 0300. My girlfriend carries one of several Delicas. I sharpened two of them for her last night. Truly an excellent design.

There are so many great Spyderco knives it is difficult to choose one as the be-all and do-all model. I agree that the Delica is a great knife that fills the bill most of the time for most of the people.

Another Delica love thread....

...and well deserved! I agree with OP, I love knives and collect/use/appreciate a wide range but the Delica is a very ideal 3 inch EDC for me. I can live with it and it's capabilities for sure.

I was about to get my first delica, and then I spotted the Kahr arms edition. I absolutely love its blade shape, but it's not sold here in the uk. If I got a regular delica, do you think it's possible I could grind down the blade and get it matching?

Hi Cchu518,

The Delica is a very special model. Originally designed in-house, but refined over more than 20 years by comments from our customers.

Thanks Sal. Are there any plans to make small changes to the Delica in the near future? I'm not sure what kind of changes would be made but I am just curious to know what you think at this point.

I'm an engineer by trade, Sal, and your constant attention to the details have refined this design into something truly special. I think between us, my girlfriend and I have four or five Delicas.

Well done.
