I found a stick on the sidewalk when I was walking my mutt, and decided it was a good time to carve up a figure-4 trap. It's been a while since I practiced making one, and this was good practice at setting them up again and again. I used different things as the 'drop', like books and a box, but this was my couch cushion:
After the trap was baited with some irresistible peanut butter (extra crunchy), I was prepared to lure the most dangerous of all game. She's a crafty beast, and fearsomely ferocious. But ultimately, even she would succumb to the heavenly odor of Jiff...
So how many licks does it take to set off a figure-4 trap? Apparently about 3.
If you haven't made these yourself, give it a whirl! It takes a stick, a knife, and about 10-15 minutes. You'll learn a lot about how to set these up in no time. Plus, it's hard to not giggle when your pet is gearing up to check out the bait.
[Note: No pooches were harmed during filming, and were in fact given copious amounts of treats as a reward.
