The "most" knife (folder) you have needed in the past year?

All I really need is a SAK. Sometimes not even that. There are times when a couple days will pass before I need a pocket knife. But that doesn't stop me from carrying both my Techno and my Dua. At the same time. With the SAK in the 5th pocket...

I cut down a couple 2-3 inch trees with my Adamas, but that's probably the toughest thing Ive done.
Cut thick rubber muffler hangers, zip ties, etc.
A few times I needed the strength, but not every day.
I carry it because I like it.
A strong knife can do what a weaker knife can do, but a weak knife can't do what a strong knife can do.

For my kind of EDC a needle and a key would suffice to be honest.
A key can open carboard boxes and can also be wedged into cable ties to break them open.
The needle is to remove splinters from my kids hands.
Do I carry a needle and my keys? No. There could be situations where I need a real knife. Its more of an insurance. I hope I never need it but if I do I am happy to have one. Just like all the stuff in a first aid kit. Most "past years" all you needed were bandaids. Does that mean the rest (pain klillers, aids gloves, blood clotting agent ....) is useless?
Anyways, my edc is the spyderco native 5 forum knife from 2013. Pointy enough for splinters and overkill for opening packages and good for whatever else I might need it in the city. No need to build shelter, make firewood and slay Zombies, I hope :p

What could I possibly get by with? My Sheepfoot Barlow. What would I have been able to get by with without possibly hurting the knife? Endura. What would I have been able to get by with with absolutely no worries? Large voyager.

I just got a code 4 and its looking to fill that role though.

Opinel #10 and #8 get a whole lot of carry and use. Not bad for $10. Their "slice to price" ratio puts them above any other folder I have ever used. They are weightless too. I have a Leatherman wave that is always a companion camping, but it rarely gets used In town.

i could have gotten away with a cheap retractable utility knife with spare blades on the inside or a pair of scissors.

CRK small insingo exclusively for almost 6 months now. Does everything including scraping and cutting things that have rolled the edge a few times. Still opens and locks like new.

This wasn't the only knife I carried all year, but it could have been. Easily.

My Leatherman Squirt that I carry almost everday would probably have sufficed for most folder duties. Where's the fun in that though?

Same here. My Leatherman Charge, which I carry everywhere would suffice for everything I need a knife for. But as you said, where's the fun in that. I like whipping out one of my Militarys for jsut about everything. More comfortable handle and lighter than the Charge.

I did not need it, but when I go anywhere without my 1911, I always pack my Cold Steel Espada XL in my waist band where the gun would normally reside. Absent the gun, that is one knife that will make someone think if you whip that bad boy out.

Hi all,
Probably a Swiss Army/Victorinox Climber. (The scissors would be the most used tool for me, then the small blade.) For many years, it actually was my EDC. After I started collecting pocket knives, I started alternating my EDCs among more "interesting" things (but I still have a Victorinox Climber!).

Id need a one handed opening knife. Just for a sound mind. Probably my delica. I wouldnt be comfortable with less than that. I feel that peace of mind makes it a need instead of a want. I am a do-it-yourselfer in practice so when I am deep in thought with my one hand wrapped around something Id rather not have to fish out and deploy a knife two handed. That being said, the lovely wife recently bought me a GEC and it spends everyday by my side.

My Griptilian over the past two years. Cutting those plastic straps and fiberglass mat wasn't getting done well with any other knife. (including the el cheapo work gave me.)
