The most offending knife ?

After stumbling across a (rather weird) thread about the 'best offensive knife'in 'knife reviews & testing', I started to wonder about the knives that offend the most non-knife-loving people. I have a small collection of odd blade shapes mounted for display on a wall at home, and my observation is thus : While some non-knife-people frown at the classical AF-dagger, they still find it more or less attractive. They start worrying when they spot the hawksbill blade (Greco Defender Mk II), but it's the CS Desperado that makes them look for the nearest exit

Is it the combination of wicked serrations and recurved edge or the lack of beauty (Sorry Lynn T.) ?
Have You noticed similar effects with Your knives ? Can we set up a hit list ? (I once saw a picture of a Steve Ryan folder (called the Biohazard), that would be a clear favorite)

Take care, Tobse !

P.S. Maybe we could also start a 'most socially acceptable knife' thread

Hi!

Fun thread!

My vote is for the Al Mar Warrior and their clones

also the Spyderco Civilian is a nice "crowd scatterin device"

agree with Mr.Ryans knives, nice looking!

Most socially would probably be any SAK.

Of the knives i own, the one that gets the worst reaction on a regular basis is a cheap plastic folder with a serrated wharnecliffe type blade.... Not sure why. Showing people photos.... The Glock dagger. It just looks so.... (actual quotes) "Black" (duh), "Military", "Mean", "Purpose designed for stabbing" (at least someone made a valid comment...)

Anyway... daggers often seem to get frowned upon.... so what about the Microtech dagger... (i think it's the Nemesis) An auto dagger.... that would get me thrown in prison for a goodly ammount of time....

Anyway, gotta scoot

I find this knife to be incredibly offensive. I got lazy and didn't even finish the filework all the way around. Grinds suck, too. I made it with files as quickly as possible, and did almost no finishing. It is 5/32" D-2 from planer blade stock and it was heat treated by neil Blackwood. This little POS even got a cryo treatment! I made a Concealex belt sheath for it that is really sweet, too. It actually cuts, surprisingly. I think I'll name this model the POS.

As for offending non-knife sheeple, my Emerson Commander has made people actually jump away from me when I pulled it out.

I personally think the CRKT Apache with the fully serrated blade is pretty scary too.

For some odd reason all rational normal thinking people completley lose it when confronted with a 11" OR 13" Italian Springer. Fire a Dalton,MT or any other modern tactical and you will get "Hey is that a switchblade?" Fire a large Italian and its like the thing is being wielded by the devil himself. I think people must believe that the blade is going to fly right out of your hand and penetrate their heart all on its own LOL. For out and out fear factor Italians are the winners hands down.

United Cutlery seems to make the largest variety of "no purpose but scarin' people" knives. The ones with the spiked knuckle guards spring immediately to mind, and I can't see a crowd hanging around within arm's reach of most of the Hibben pieces.

REKAT Sifu and/or Spyderco Civilian suddenly produced from out of your pocket. As a test, I once warned some knife-type people that I was going to take a knife out at a Chesapeake Knife & Tool store and whipped out my Sifu. The rather knowledgeable sales people nearly died! Then they all wanted to look at and to handle that bad boy. Two said that they just HAD to buy one.

The Mineral Mountain Hatchet Works - "Assassin". The name of this knife says it all! Scary...!

Agree with 2Sharp and Richard, Hobbits or Warriors are the worst IMHO. Those teeth (those are not serrations brothers!) are just too offensive.

In a word.... Balisong.

Flip, flip, thwack! People dialing 911. No contest.

I take that back.. VG's Micra death posture is definitely offensive.

I wouldn't be surprised to see MicroTech's Kestrel and Vector folders cause the sheeple to recoil in horror.

I have found that an Italian pushbutton with 6" kriss style (serpentine) blade makes people nervous as does a straight razor on the street.
