Hello Everyone!
Most all of you have been collecting Chris Reeve Knives FAR longer than I have and know your facts and values very well. So in your years of collecting and browsing, what's the most valuable CRK you've ever come across? I'm sure there are some CRK's out there that we'd have to sell our cars to buy:eek:. What are they? TIA!!

CR has released a lot of expensive knives, but the most valuable? Probably one of the early, pre-Sebenza titanium folders from South Africa. I've only seen a couple in pictures. Stjames has one I believe.

Id say the most expensive CRK currently available would be a Mammoth bark inlay Large Sebenza 21 with damascus and double lugs. Though don't quote me on that, im just pulling this off the top of my head.

The Sebenza that you saw is one of three that were made for Bob Miller at House of Cutlery. The knives respectively featured a lion, an elephant and a cheetah (or maybe it was a leopard, I'm not 100% sure)against a bushveld background. The front faces of the handles were sculpture engraved by Gary Blanchard (who is a phenomenal talent!); the handle backs and Damascus blades were done by Scott at our shop. The detail is just incredible and they are collector pieces bar none. The project took about five years to come together, so it is unlikely to be repeated!! Each knife is very much a one of a kind and, in my opinion, cheap at the price.

That is no doubt the most expensive knife one can buy just now. There are things hidden away in collections around the world that are worth a lot more. There are a number of custom fixed blades and folders that would be rather spendy if they were to be sold today. You just won't see them for sale though, or at least we are unlikely to see them for sale.

I sure would like to see one of those early folders.I'm impressed that a man with such talent chose to become an American.

Outside of customs by Chris, The Gold Coin series and the 21st anniversary knives are pretty pricey.

The two unique umnums made by Chris would probably fetch a high price, although I am sure there are much more pricey pieces floating around.

Whats the weight of the gold coin in the Sebenza? With gold being at $1,600 an ounce then that sebenza is a really great investment.

I'm working on a deal to get a gold coin Sebenza just now infact. I may or may not be happy to share how much that ends up costing.......:p:thumbup:

That's a great point Evan. Haze, even if people think you paid too much, it will eventually be worth more than you paid. And if you get a killer deal, we'll just all be jealous. Tell away :D

I'm hoping for a knife for knife swap, he's hoping for a pile of cash I'm sure. I happen to know that he got the knife for a mind bendingly low price so I have that on my side. We will see what happens on Saturday. :D:thumbup:

I could have gotten 4 last winter if I'd had some more financial & intestinal fortitude.

Then again, I am still happily married......

HA... reminds me of a forum member's signature line that reads "I'm afraid if I die my wife is going to sell all my toys for what I told her I paid for them."

You're right though; something about a family of four that drains our budget, in a beautiful way. ;)

This might be a contender. I got it from Chris 15-25 years ago. It's one piece of Damascus and the insets that form the grip and the pommel end are ivory.

Sorry for the crummy quality of the photos, they're just for insurance purposes.
