I spent the first half of today horse trading with a sculptor who lives here part of the year and Arizona in the winters. I ended up trading about 1000 pounds of maple and buckeye burl and a big pile of money for this.

I'd love to see some details of how you're going to cut the non-burl bits up. I've got a pretty decent sized pile of ironwood here that needs cutting, but I'm not sure of the best way to do it.

I would love to know when that goes in the sale forum, especially if you find some good burl scales in there.

Well, I got this far before I trashed the bandsaw. Tomorrow I will have Lynn get it back up and running and I will get back to cutting. Does anyone like the pieces with sapwood. The problem I see is it is only on one side of the block.

I have little knowledge about such things, but that looks like a fairly good ratio of heartwood in most of those pieces. Can't wait to see what the burly parts look like. What do you do with the sapwood?
