Christmas came to #13 Patten Street today...heres some teasers...when the sun rises in the morning, I will take some nice shots and post 'em in this thread, heres a couple in the meantime. Been waitin a while for these...I think my stagalicious 'Ferret' knife should arrive in the morning too, that makes 4! I am one lucky SOB...:D

It doesn't get much more 'traditional' than this....sorry for the 'bat cave' pics...lighting sux in the office.

So Guy, where are those pictures you promised to take when it got lighter outside? I want to get a look at these knives. Just wondering if you have good taste or not.:p

Congrats!

thx keith!:D

But, as all good things come to an end, so has my spending money....:(

Excellent score, Guy! I like ‘em all, but I find the Scagel-style P.J. Tomes Bowie particularly appealing. I have one of Mr. Tomes’ Scagel hunters with a 5-½” clip point blade that I picked up on the secondary market a few years ago and it’s one of my favorite pieces. I do have one question that you might be able to help me with…it's about the maker’s mark on the Tomes Scagel-style blades. My knife has the “kris” emblem on both sides of the blade as well as a stylized version of the maker’s name on the left side. Is this the “standard” marking on Mr. Tome’s Scagel-style knives? I guess I was curious because (in my limited experience) most ABS-rated Master Smiths usually have the “MS” designation appearing somewhere on their knives…I was wondering if my knife might have been made before Mr. Tomes was certified with his Master Smith rating. It really doesn’t matter to me one way or the other…the craftsmanship on the knife is first-rate; I’m just curious about the provenance of the blade. Any help/clarification you (or any other Tomes aficionados) could provide would be most appreciated…

Damn…I’m definitely gonna have to look into getting one of those Ferret guy’s knives :D

Ugly Jim.....

I may have the answer and somebody please correct me if I am way off track.

1. You could very well have a knife from Tomes before he was 'certified' (for a better word?) as a MS.

2. Mine has the Kris and the Tomes logo on the left side, and the 'MS' and 'USA' stamp on the other. I beleive that if knives are stamped with the 'MS', they are hand forged.

3. The Kris logo simply states it is a Scagel replica (???)

Your knife tells me that you have a Tomes / Scagel 'replica' but the knife may have not been forged, but ground from stock.

Like I said, I could be wrong......

Still, I bet it is a fantastic looking knife and I would love to see a pic of it if you have the time....or, alternatively, if you wish to get rid of it, I will gladly take it from you...:D (a guys got to try hey!)..

Anyway, thx for your comments, they are all beautiful knives.

Now wheres those pics Jim?
