Namaste everybody:

It is me, Pala, again with another khukuri to show you.

Before I left Nepal I gave an assignment to Prakash Bishwakarma, son of Bura, the Royal Kami. I asked him to make ten of the strongest 15 inch Ang Kholas he could make and to do the best job he could do. Yesterday I received his effort and I am not disappointed and I do not think you will be, either.

This is a Chiruwa style 15 inch (actually a little more) Ang Khola. The blade is just about 1/2 inch thick, 2 & 1/8 wide and the knife weighs 2 pounds! This is more than 2 oz. per inch. This knife will outchop anything and I don't see how anybody could ever break or bend it. Here is how I evaluate this khukuri:

Fit and finish -- excellent
Blade hardness -- excellent
Scabbard and frog -- excellent
karda and chakma -- excellent

I am very proud of the effort Prakash has made here. I cannot say more.

I will sell this unbreakable knife for $135 and if you can break it I will send you two replacements free of charge.

As usual, call or email Bill Jwai if you have an interest and dheri dhanyabad for looking. I have ten available.

Prakash sure seems to know his khukuris! What tremendous craftmanship.

Pala, Bill... How does the title of Royal Kami get bestowed? Is there a national competition, or does the title stay in the family? From this first glimpse of his work I'd say he's in a good possition to inherit the title (a long, long time from now, let's hope!)

Beautiful work...

Douglas.

Namaste,

If there is an Ang Khola still available, I'd like to purchase it; have sent mail to Uncle Bill.

Thank you Pala and Uncle Bill

Everybody is covered so far and we have five still available.

Pala is showering and I don't know if the Royal Kami is an official title or if he is called thus simply because he makes khukuris for the king and his buddies from time to time. Remind me and I'll ask Pala who knows everything. If you don't believe this just ask him!

I'm going to have to pass right now, but by the diety of your choice that's a lovely piece.

And it does my heart glad to see the immediate interest.

May He who is the Father in Heaven of the Christians, Holy One of the Jews, Allah of the Muhammadans, Buddha of the Buddhists, Tao of the Chinese, Ahura Mazda of the Zoroastrians, and Brahman of the Hindus lead us from the unreal to the Real, from darkness to light, from disease and death to immortality. May the All-Loving Being manifest Himself unto us, and grant us abiding understanding and all-consuming divine love. Peace, Peace. Peace be unto all.

Swami Akhilananda

Does that about cover your sentiments, Jim?
Hmmn... If it's Swami Akhilananda today, Yvsa is probably wondering just when John Yellow Lark and Black Elk are going to get their turn. Right after the picnic (HHDL's), Yvsa, I'm still rereading Jack Wilson's (Wovoka) sayings.

Palaji - I already loogged my name for 6 (it will be 8 when + HI Millenium Special + HI 21" to 24" Chainpuri) different models of Khukuris. It seems I have to cool down ... budget review time!

What a beautiful sturdy heavyweight Chiruwa Style AK!!

Another one to look forward to! I thought my wood pile was intimidated by my 18" WWII. Just wait until I start manufacturing kindling with this one.

There may be one left. I can't keep up. But I have ordered more. Had no idea this would be so popular.

Nice post, Rusty.

Doug, Pala seems to have some kind of answer for just about everything but some of the things I ask him he gives answers based on old Sherpa superstitions and I tease him about this.

Weight seems to be a major factor in khukuri peformance. My reject Ang Khola is about 50 g heavier than my Shop 1 Ang Khola. The reject chops better.

It will be very interesting to see how the 2 lb 15" Ang Khola's compare to the 2 lb 18" Ang Khola's.

I have a bunch of 15" AK's, and I don't claim to be some kind of knife expert or something, but you guys have to see the 15" Chiruwa I have. Now I know why it's called the mother of Ang Khola's. ------------"BIG MOTHER" that is P.S What happened to the original pix?

:
hehehehe.!!
The pix went the way of AOL.com and it is no telling where they went.
If you want a real laugh Jay,go back through the archives.
There will maybe be a thread on a 15" Chainpuri and when you pull up the thread there is a pic of the Gelbu Special or somethimg.

Uncle has a real time with his pix.I wonder sometimes if a person couldn't get a free web page and put pix on it and have a link to it from here.I realize Uncle Bill doesn't have that kind of time and doesn't need the ulcer aggravation that might bring.I would do it,but I don't have the equipment or the know how.

I guess on reflection, that I maybe should print them all off with the info behind the pic,but it wouldn't do anyone any good except me and maybe my wife and g'daughter. She comes home from work now and says,
"What new one did Uncle Bill put up today?" I think she is becoming as much a Khukuri Kook as I am.

Cornbread ain't s'possed ta be sweet!....Dagnabit gurl, whut did they teach you way up north in ....;) hehehe.

My problem with AOL is they give me pretty limited space in terms of pix so I have to recycle the pix. I don't like it but I hate to change my website address. When I started I never dreamed I'd be posting so many pix. We can thank the village kamis and shop 2 kamis for this. I am not complaining about the kamis. I love to see the variations they dream up and conjur up from old memories of khukuris they saw when they were kids.
