After a long wait I finally got my M4 mule back from getting handles. Its black and tan G-10 with grooving (don't know the proper term) permently attached. It has a great feel and the fit and finish is perfect.

Handles made by Brad southard. (M4 only)

And now some of the trio.

The sheath next the M4 mule (middle) was done by brad, its nice and slim making it almost un-noticed when on your belt. It uses a small tek-lok and I have sence changed it to vertical carry. The other sheath next to the orange handle 52100 mule was done by a custom sheath maker that either works or did work for spyderco. I like the one brad did because its small but I plan on having the same sheath for all the mules that I buy, so soon they will all look like the top one.

Hey - this one looks really well made! "Grooving" is not my cup of tea, but the execution seems flawless. Congrats to you and the maker

That M4 mule is really sweet. I have found that thin scales even 1/8" work well on these Mules. What thickness are those?
I like the grooving.

What are the discoloration on the blade...Looks cool! Is that some kind of patina? I was think of using some bluing compound on one of them to see how the steel will react...My dad is a metal smith and has a metal shop set up! I have dabbled in metal smiting myself. I think I am going to try to make some all-metal handles using the Lost wax technique for one of my ZDP mules?

The discoloration's were from the factory, it was a second. Using cold blue work great on a carbon steel and its a lot faster than trying to induce a patina.

ZDP mule   where did you get that? there not even out yet!

ice-pic, not sure of the thickness but my guess would be 1/4 in.
