Well I just got back from seeing The Mummy Returns (which I thought was very silly, yet very good). Anyway, there was this one scene when he was sitting there picking at something he was holding in his other hand with the bali that he was holding in the other. From what I could see (it was kind of dark), it has a manilla latch (quite obviously), and a black insert that was round on the bottom. The blade was a clip bowie. He then put it away by doing a double-windmill (complete with dubbed sound!)

I guess I'll have to see that movie then...

I know in the first movie he uses a CCC with the horrible dubbed sound

Cool. I'm going to see it this weekend. I know it's nothing but mindless action and a vehicle for special FX but, it is the summer movie season. I'd really like to know if the balisong was Brendon Frasier's(sp?) idea or the writer fellows'. Either way, the man seems to know his way around them.

There was a bali in the fist movie!? Got to go rent that one, and see the second too..

Speaking of Balisongs on film... I saw one one the TV show Nash Bridges. Got me mad too, the bad guy pulled it on a bounty hunter, mostly good guy, played by Stone Cold Steve Auston. At least that who it looked like. I'm not a big wrestling fan.

Why does the bad guy always have the cool toys!

Shame it will only add, slightly, to the stigma of the Balisong being evil! It was very fast, and a far off shot, but it looked like it could have been a 45 or a 42.
Got to get a DVD recorder!

I just saw the Mummy2 with my girlfreind to. I thought the Bali in use was a BM45. I'm no expert and for me it was hard to tell. Also I thought he did some pretty basic and slow movements and the sound didnt help.

Continuing on this topic (sorta) whats the best movie sequence using (a) Balisong(s)?

FWIW, I thoroughly enjoyed both the first and second (saw it last night) Mummy movies. Excellent special effects, lots of action, and just a good time! (Of course, it didn't hurt that we had several Black & Tans at the Irish pub next door before walking over to see it.

&nbsp;&nbsp;I guess my favorite may be Jeff Imada, with the Balisong and baton, facing Kurt Russell in Big Trouble in Little China (love that movie, glad to see it's due out this month on DVD).

Saw the Mummy Returns last night and he does get to use his butterfly a couple of times.

One sequence kind of surprised me, he takes and cuts some rather thick rope with one swipe, once on the rope around her hands and once on the wrap around her feet. Now these knives don't normally have a great rope cutting ability, but that's Hollywood for you.

Liked the movie, but like the first one better, much better....

Hey at least they didnt give the Bali the bad stigma of being a weapon. In the Mummy 2 I dont think he ever used it as a weapon.

Jackie Chan did a movie recently, that I THINK was called "The Prisoner". He and a few other big names from Golden Harvest Production are all in prison. The "head" prisoner somehow has a balisong on him, does a basic horz. opening and slices his arm to show how tough he is. My TV is the size of a car battery and I couldn't quite tell what it was.

I'm definitely in with AbnAirCav on this one, Jeff Imada's sinawali (??) moves in Big trouble... is just too cool, as is Mr. Russells reaction to it

<font color=red>Btw, welcome to the forums!<font color=black>

When i was around 11-12 there was a movie about some bad-ass dude, rather crappy movie don't really remember what it was called, but he used a large bali-song in rather cool ways, for example he used it to trap the blade of his opponent, just clamped it between the handles and then he did the expected ass-kicking

I'd love to see that movie again! man, i can't for my life remember it's name...wasn't there some paintball story in it?? i'm getting old...
<font color=red> Update!! it might have been called "MasterBlaster" but i'm not sure, anyone seen it??<font color=black>

The Mel Gibson movie "Payback" has a great bali opening sequence done with, what looks like, a PC custom WeeHawk. It's the best I've seen in a while........

The first movie we saw that used a balisong sequence in it was an early Jackie Chan flick.I believe it was called "The Big Brawl".The bad guy did some moves with bali's in both hands. He hadn't had a lot of time to learn the moves,so he did fumble a wee bit in the sequence.
Imada's sequence with Bali & Baton was good, although it was extremely short.
I did notice the sequence in The Mummy, but it's been a while since I've seen it,so I can't remember where in the film it was,or how long it was.I have yet to see #2.
Imada has done a lot of work with TV shows, being a stuntman/choreographer (for balisong moves & fight scenes)/bit part actor. So chances are that most TV shows from the 80's onward has had Imada involved where balisongs are concerned.Same goes for a lot of movie scenes.
There was also a bali scene in a Chuck Norris film too,but I can't remember what it was right now.
I really can't say which scene in TV or movie has been the best though.

I was told this today, so I can't valididate it. But apparently in a Brit gangster film just out on DVD called love honour and obey, there is a character sitting at a bar flipping a Bali in quite an impressive way. The bar man starts saying how he is deadly with his hands and to try and stab him, well after refusing to do this, he pulls the knife back and stabbs the bar man! All he can sa#y is ah you got me that time, oww oww oww. Alittle later in the film the gangsters drag him into an alley with him moaning and remove the blade he tries to call an ambulance...no signal!

LOL! Gota see it!

I haven't seen it in ages, but didn't Sharkey's Machine have some good Balisong work involving Dan Inosanto and/or Jeff Imada?
