Anyone that has seen it?

Hey 2Sharp,
Yes.. ok, I admit it! I've seen that movie.

I seem to remember a bit where the guy with the bali was having a knife fight, and everytime the bad guy tried to stab him, Mr Bali-bloke would stab the guys hand. As I recall I was quite impressed by that idea at the time. It was quite a few years ago though.

What were the little assassins in the "Return of the Mummy" jungle scene? Were they pygmy mummies? I thought their mannerisms were more like monkey mummies.

The bali scenes went by real fast and I suspect many non-knife fans may have not have even been aware of the kind of knife used by Rick. On the other hand, the swords used in the movie were displayed quite prominently and has renewed my interest in the Sypderco Shabaria.

The ROTM is not as "scary" as the first movie; however, it has alot of action and is fun to watch. Bring on "Mummy 3."

When i was around 11-12 there was a movie about some bad-ass dude, rather crappy movie don't really remember what it was called, but he used a large bali-song in rather cool ways, for example he used it to trap the blade of his opponent, just clamped it between the handles and then he did the expected ass-kicking

I'd love to see that movie again! man, i can't for my life remember it's name...wasn't there some paintball story in it?? i'm getting old...
<font color=red> Update!! it might have been called "MasterBlaster" but i'm not sure, anyone seen it??<font color=black>

Ah yes, of course! MasterBlaster! I didn't remember the name, of the bali scene, but I sure remember the movie! I guess we saw it at the same time, yes, on SVT? 8-)

Master Blaster? .. Hmmm. Ohhhh ... Nah I remember .. yes, trapping the knife between the bali handles .. and it was an International Series I guess?

I saw The Mummy Returns last night, it's a pretty good movie!! The balisong was not from BM/PC etc, it was not a cheapie; the blade was too thick to be a cheapie and the inserts were done differently than BM's. I don't remember what a Kelgin bali looks like but it did look slightly familiar.

Ive always liked the Bali scene in the movie "Streets of Fire"

Hehe, I think I remember this one..

Bad guy pulls out a Bali, does a few mediocre swings and the Hero snags the Bali from his hand, does a few lefty manipulations while bitch slapping the bad guy back and forth across the face with the other hand.

Then he hands the Bali back and asks if he wants to try it again. He does, and the Hero snags it again and does more of the same.

Funny as hell, I didn't know much about Bali's then so I have no clue how good or bad the bali or the manipulations were.

Man, I LOVED the Big Brawl! I think it's one of my favorite Jackie movies. I remember the Bali scenes really well. Spoiled son of a mobster (if I remember right) had two, and used 'em quite a bit. Best fight scene is between Jackie and this guy at the end, when he's got both out, and Jackie fights him barehanded.

BTW, Mummy 2 was good, but I wasn't aware Egyptians knew how to use Sai (thought that was "discovered" as a weapon in Feudal Japan). Also, (sorry, this is the architect in me coming out) there's a scene when... damn, I forget the character's name! Anyway, he says to Rick "Like the 3 sides of the Pyramid..." yadda yadda yadda. I thought to myself "3 sides? All the pyramids I've ever seen have 4..."

TroyO,

The BG did one double flip vertical but sideways opening. Got a good slap.

Tom Cody (the name of our hero) then closed it with the same double flip, but modified, held vertically.

The second time it was a windmill opening I guess.

Then Tom did a vertical double flip when he saved his girl.

And the bali: it should be a PC Bowie bladed.
(I have the VHS and watch it over and over and over because I love it so much)

Chuck, if you have the DVD/VCD version, will you tell us more on the knife model?

My friend made me a copy of the VCD. If I can get it working on my computer, I'll post some screen shots

yah pics of bali's in movies!

I just saw The Big Brawl with Jackie Chan. that Guy wasnt to good at his bali's. Your opponent isnt supposed to see it till it's to late

Nope. A pyramid has four sides (faces). Think of a square. Now draw an "X" inside the square, with the lines going from corner to corner. You now have a plan of a pyramid. Where the lines cross in the middle is the point (if you were to "rotate" the plan, so you could see it 3-dimensionally, that is).

See2: Oops, you're right.

Darth: Did you bring your camera into the movies? That scene went real fast--you must have seen the movie more than once.

I just recalled Master Blaster's balis was a PC International Skeletonized handle with Weehawk blade.

<font color = red>Ouch!<font color = black> that must hurt, the stabbing on the foot ..

The "killer midget mummies" were banshees.

I really would like to know who the weapons expert is for the Mummy movies. All the guns are correct for the period although I would like to give him hell for all the sparks that fly when the bullets hit.

Yeah, if there's one thing Hollywood could do to fix up great gun scenes is to remove those sparks. I cracked up when that guy said, "No, I prefer the Thompson." But what I want to know is how he kept pulling out all those drums for it. He musta had about five or six of those on his body! Talk about clanking when you walk.
