It is an odd set-up, some Hawbacker or Improved have a Wharncliffe instead of two Clips. However, when pelt skinning was significant activity, this pattern was useful.

They look pretty nice too

Here's a Queen D2 in ACSB, likely one of THE best made production knives I own. It's single-spring as well.

What do you mean, "When pelt skinning was a significant activity?"

It still is, my friend. :)

I have an old Camillus muskrat that has undressed many ringtails, and an old Case with one blade broke out of it that has undressed a bunch more.

I keep intending to send it to Case for a blade replacement and backspring fix, but I am a little sentimental about it.

Edited to add:

I have got to develop more will power.

After I read this post, and got to thinking about winter coming and all those bandits I ain to skin, I went to that large auction site, and lo and behold, there one was.

It's mine now. :)

Here is an older GEC with some interesting scratted bone, like the newer TCs have, in antique green.

coonskinner point taken about the significant activity :D:D not many have the skill these days though. Good to hear you got another Muskrat in reserve.

rdrogers really like that acrylic, great material.:thumbup:

Thanks, Will

Thanks guys. Good thread. I like a Muskrat too. Wish I could find better pics but I have four 77OT's in all.
Three marked "Improved Muskrat" and the one not. First three in pic are Muskrats.
I like the fact that both blades are the same. If you're using it for a particular purpose that suits the slim clip blade it's nice to have a sharp backup.
Thanks for this topic. Muskrats need more exposure!

What year is that case on the bottom from? I can't quite make it out but it is in fantastic shape! Really nice!
This is a nice low-profile pattern - the Rigid by Canal Street is quite a looker. I have a Buck 313, couple of Case on the 47 frame, and a Schrade USA 77OT that I have evidently never taken a picture of. OH
