Is the Satin coating just aesthetics or does it offer protection from the elements like the coated blades?

It's better than double cut but not as good as coated for protection. Though its slicer and cuts better than coated plus much cleaner for things like food prep etc. I also prefer the way satin looks used over coated blades wear patterns. All my users are satin!
