YMMV this is true.
(In the middle age, a folding knives was only held by its blade and the handle was considered as a attached sheath ! Like an old razor...)
Interesting! I did not know that but it makes sense.
I too have had my ups and downs with linerlock though for me the ones produced by Spyderco and that I have edc-ed have been 100% reliable and pleasant in use. I have ajusted the one on my Starmate. It was fine, now it is perfect. For me too the ZDP Walker is a clear example of how a liner lock should be constructed: great detent, smooth operation, the lock sits at the beginning of the lock-face and has not moved since I have owned it, no play when open jet easy to disengage.
To come back tot the Navaja. I think the large coil gives the user the possibility to use this knife safely and confidently for harder tasks. More than most big lines-locks.
