Got a BK14 in the mail yesterday...already tortured it with alien-blood stripper, wet/dry. scotch brite, olive oil, you name it. Great knife. Like it waaay better than the necker. Got the TDI clip on it now. Once Nick gets to me on the list and can make my leather belt sheath, I'll put the clip back on the '11.

Nice strip, polish and wrap job C. Your gonna love that 14 I sure have been enjoying mine

Did you also mod the handle, It looks like you cut out the inner part of the hole in the handle. Or is it just the angle of the photo or something?

oily moose burgers on a biscuit with cat sauce

Olive oil is what I use to protect my blades. Idea being, if you are going to use your knife to prep food, better to not drench it in 3-in-1 oil.

Didn't mod the handle. It just feels better in the hand than the 11. Bigger, rounder, more comfortable.

this thread has gone to a deeply weird place

seems to be the theme as of late doesnt it? like somewhere a few miles back the forum took a wrong turn onto some uncharted back country road......

Olive oil I found made my blades smell after a while. Mineral oil works best and is cheap.

i was told that after awhile olive oil will actually start to rot, and therefore be unable to prep food
i would 2nd the mineral oil suggestion

Olive oil will go rancid after a while.
Mineral oil's the ticket. Check your local pharmacy in the laxatives (seriously).
Mineral oil is also good stuff for rejuvenating wooden cutting boards.
