I was lucky enough to get a hold of a couple new Beckers. A BK9 and BK7.

Both are the updated versions, laser etched and the new tougher coating.

Most of you are familiar with the new coating as it has been on the tweeners and the BK4. This is the first of the large knives I have seen with it. The thing I wanted to talk about is the sheaths. They are a big improvement over the old ones. They no longer seem like a $5 afterthought from China. While Im not saying that you wont want something different, this is a sturdy useful sheath that should give good service if you dont want kydex or leather. A big improvement is it is Molle this lets you strap it to packs or even carry it scout style.

The main belt loop is velcro and a snap, great for a large knife since you can take it off and on with out removing your belt.

It still has the pocket that will hold an altoids tin and has a sheath for a Remora.

The liner is still the plastic universal one. You can heat it up and press it to get a better fit, but the knife fits good other than a little rattle at the tip. The top is held securely in place.

Here is a close up of the coating after a few sessions of chopping and a bit of batoning. It has thinned a tad but is still holding up great, I dont think Im going to strip this one.

The BK7 came in the Masters Series sleeve with a special message from Ethan (I was lucky enough to win this in the chopping contest) Thanks!

And a couple shots just because. The BK7 I rattle canned the scales foliage not sure how it will hold up but I like how it looks.

I just ordered a 7. I hope it has the new sheath. I have been thinking about seeing if I can get a 5 sheath from Ka-bar too.

Let us know when you get it. I have heard that the river store has been sending out the new knives, but Im sure it just depends on inventory.

That is where I got it from. It was a complete fluke though. I never shop there I just had $75 to spend.

WOW that BK 9 looks like a mini sword. That BK 7 is very sexy also! Thanks for posting, these help me and other newbies learn more and more!

Good thread Psyop. I like the painted scales, looks good.

Yeah, the BK4 has the same sheath but with a D-ring dangler on top. Sweet!
I agree Psyop, the new sheaths don't suck.

Never thought I'd say this but oh man, the new Beckers look freaking sweet with the new coating and engraving...One downside to this is that if I decide to strip them I dont have a way of etching the logo PCB etchant or a simmilar chemical is just not avalible here.

I did notice the new sheaths too when I got my 9, OA the new sheaths just feel sturdier and really cut down on sheath rattle.

cam - another name for PCB etchant is ferric chloride. you can etch with hydrochloric (muriatic), nitric, or sulfuric acids as well.

Woo! BK&T is now branching out to high quality sheaths!
This needs to be a new line, BS&T (Becker Sheath and Tool) :D:D:D
Seriously, congrats on the new steel with the new sheaths!

Thanks for the info...Alot of things commonly found in the US are just not found here at all though but I'll still keep looking anyway.

Yeah, I've seen all of those things here...Might have to give the saltwater/salt and vinegar version a go...Just gotta find a 12V battery charger which shouldnt be too hard.

The new laser etching and coating looks better than the old one IMO

Does anyone know of a way to order just the sheaths by themselves? I've got a newer version of the 4 and an old version of the 9. I like the sheath of the 4 and I'm looking to replace my 9's sheath with this newer one.
