Not to long ago I posted a topic about classic knives. I mentioned the AFCK as a classic and was reminded that in the grand scheme of things the AFCK is a new design. What other relatively new knives are destined to become classics? Also which of these "older" new designs, like the AFCK, is still a hot item today?

I am guessing the early BM CQC7 that revolutionized folders for today, it seems like a classic that will always bve remembered.....

Misque,
What about the Civilian in the Spyderco group?? I think that once a knife has instructional tapes dedicated to its use, it's a classic

This may be off da wall - but I think to any list of "classics" one must include: Gerber's L.S.T. as inovation.. the FSII as an expression of grace and beauty in both design and execution, and the bolt-action for a new thought being bank-rolled.

Jonesy!

DOH!!
I knew I was missing some of the classics, but to leave out the Civilian is scandalous!

Well, Dr. Lathe, other than the obvious blunder, do you think I've got all the knives on the list that should be there and do you have any additions? I know there are some I'm missing.
Keep'em coming! I think this is a good thread .

Anything that is now done in a tradition of XXXX...or So and SO... qualifies as a new classic I suppose. Maybe not in the style of Scagle or Randall at this time but...

such as a Loveless tradition Big Bear subhilt
fighter or Splinter picker.

Just two classics that come to mind. And ones that almost(not every) knifemaker will try at some point. Just to see if they can do it (I think)

Who comes to mind with a small drop point skinner? What about and integral fighter? Interframe folder? Liner lock? Speed safe opener (Pretty instant classic on that one...)

I tend to think of the classics more in terms of the original makers, or at least those that popularized the style, than anything else.

Have to agree that a Loveless style Big Bear Sub-Hilt is and will always remain timeless.I would also add Chute Knives to the list.Speaking of which how is yours coming along Neil?
