Hello all, I am new to the forum and have just started my obsession with collecting knives. I just have a quick question, I am looking at kershaw knives and I am wondering if there is a spring assisted knife that has a locking switch on the side of the knife rather than the thumb switch in the middle of the knife where the blade lies when closed. I have a Gerber FAST 06 and I like how the safety is on the side of the knife but I am looking to pick up a kershaw or two that is similar to my Gerber. Any information that you guys provide would be really helpfull and greatly appreciated!

I could be wrong, and any fellow member can correct me if I am, but I think you might be looking for a RAM.

Yes, the RAM is the one. I don't have one, but it gets rave reviews from those who own one.

the ram is not assisted, but it still opens very well. as far as an assisted knife, i would pick up a blem of a speed bump from kershawguy. blems are knives with scratches in the coating, weirdly ground edges, and other cosmetic things like that. they work great but are just not able to be sold as new. the lock on the speed bump does not require your hand to get in the way of the blade. it is also a really nice knife. i do not think you will be disappointed.
