The New Hawk Folder Mechanism That Will Be Introduced At Blade

When gripped is the lock strong?

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but I like strong locks and I EDC a D.O.G. especially for that reason.
 
The knife was designed more as a super slip joint. Meaning for most tasks this knife works great, and feels very secure and safe in the hand. But it's not a fighting knife or something you'd stick into a tree. Although once the 'safety' was engaged, it would be pretty strong. . . haven't done any destruction tests, but I can't imagine it failing before other common locks.

An amazingly smoooth folder....opening or closing.....and I was one of the fortunate to acquire one in Atlanta. :)

I can say that when the 'roller' drops into place and even the slightest pressure is exerted onto ' the link', holding it in the closed position, it locks up like the proverbial vault....outstanding. :cool:
 
Sorry to bump a bit of an old thread, but is there any more info available on the production versions of the Links and Beetle? I'm absolutely in love with the design and can't wait to get my hands on them.

It looks like the Links will be introduced at the Shot Show January 2014. I'm not sure it's time to announce the company yet, but I'm sure you'll all know soon :)

And the Beetle mechanism will also be introduced at Shot Show 2014 in the form of the Tangent. This one is coming out from a really good friend of mine, and this will be our first of many projects together. I'm really excited about this new collaboration. But again you're going to have to wait until Shot Show to find out :)

The Hawk shop is worth the treck to Idaho City. I always enjoy their company, and they do have some alien mining equipment.

I have seen some of there mining inventions and to say they are innovative would be the understatement of the year :)

I had a Beetle, and got to handle a Tangent prototype this weekend at NYCKS. I personally love small knives, but found the Beetle too small to operate with ease. The Tangent has no such issue. Ingenious design in a very clean package.

This one is just gorgeous. I know people like pocket clips, and yours is certainly cooler than most, but I find they interfere with this aesthetics on this one that's dressed to the nines. To each his own :)

Congrats on your accomplishment either way and thanks for posting.

That Tangent looks amazing Gavin, the blade shape and handle flow so well! Great work!

Can't wait to see what else you have coming at SHOT!
