I just spent the last half hour on SOG's website checking out all the pics of the new knives including the new model Team Leader. That knife looks like a winner to me. Sure it's name might not fit with the old knives style, but as a knife it's awesome.

Consider this, the X-42 Field knife has a nice handle and was/is quite populare here on the forums. Well the Team Leader has the same handle and an even better blade shape IMO. The full flat ground drop point blade looks like it could slice all day long with out any problem. Looks Wicked sharp!! Great handle, great blade out of 440C stainless steel which I happen to really like. Plus I really like the sheath, looks rather classy and functional to me. Great Job! I for one am excited about this knife and wish it was already out so I could Use it!!

Was anyone here lucky enough to see this knife inperson at any of the shows like Shot? If so, please comment. :) I'm sure it's going to be populare. When one of the forum dealers starts taking preorders I'll probably sign up.

Just wanted to add some more......

The knife Screams Funtional and Use me! I can see it riding on my hip up Spring City canyon on one of my (hopefully) many campouts this spring, summer and fall. Am thinking some Rosewood or Walnut grips would look soo cool on it. I think then I'd have the perfect companion to my Ruger Single 6 convertible and the Ruger Black hawk .357/9mm Convertible I'm getting with my tax return or this spring. :D As is with current grips it would go nicely with the Ruger Mark III 22/45 I plan on getting my self for my Birthday next month. Would go nice with that Target .22 Beretta too.

DANG!! Talk about a thread killer. 2 replies and all mine. 44 views. Whats up with that? Does no one like knives and guns anymore?

Being that I am a SOG employee, I'd rather you were presented with unbiased feedback; but since it appears no one else on the boards was present at the Shot Show, (and I handled one of our 2 prototypes many times) I'll tell you that beyond the appearance, the majority of patrons were impressed with the sturdy grip and excellent balance of the Team Leader.

As for the sheath, don't expect much feedback, as one was not available at show time.

Hey Wildmanh,

get yourself a new Team Leader and send the old BG-42 Field Knife back to me !! Oh, and don't forget to put into the shipping box that custom sheath you're making for me.

Cheers,

Carl

Well as an owner of three x-42 Field Knives, I love the handle and I love BG-42. I also like most of the blade. The cutting part is great. I do not need the HUGH Ricasso. So the new Team Leader looks like a winner in the new super steel of the week Duratex 20CV. The 20CV version is very spendy. I wonder how 440C and 20CV actually compare in toughness. Does anyone know if the two knives are the same thickness. One of my X-42 Field Knives is noticably thinner than the other two.

Hey Carl, why would I break up the pair? he he he. Sheath, what sheath? :o On one of my trips to Salt lake I'll buy those supplies and finish it. Don't worry. ;) If you do ever get that X-42 back, I guess I'd have to send those two custom sheaths with it. Got a nice Hi ride and a nice cross draw for it. he he he.

Ron Athay, thanks for your comments. I've wondered how both steels will compare. Am planning on getting the 440c version. My Buck 105 in 440c is great betting the SOG will too.

Say Griff, just how does SOG Knives intend to market the "Team Leader"? Shouldn't a "One-Zero's" knife would be more in-tune with a stealthy combat function instead? It sounds an inappropriate name for what is primarily a game knife? Hope you could answer this.
