Yesterdays hike got steep, and I found a nice dead branch for an impromptu hiking stick. Always fun to bust out the Laplander, I always carry it, but don't get many chances to use it.

Went on a nine day backpacking trip in Sequoia/Kings Canyon, with significant off trail sections. Teaser picture, this lake (at 10,600' on Picket Creek) is nowhere near a trail and requires some scrambling to get to; difficulty of access meant that we had it to ourselves. Immediately beyond the wall on the opposite shore is a big granite face that drops 2500' to the canyon. Mt Whitney group is in the background.

We had some excellent hiking weather this weekend. Cloudy and in the low 80's is pretty rare for late summer here!

I make and have these up for sale for any outdoors enthusiasts and survivalist ~ I think they are pretty cool myself and I carry one in my backpack ~ I have a good stock pile of them for anyone interested ~ I am only asking $16.00 and shipping is included ~ would love to hear what other people think about them please let me know what you all think about them ~ Some people really love them guess they are a bit primitive and a bit streamline rolled into one ~ can opener works as a good striker and you never know you might need to open a can of beans or two ~ Thanks for looking ~ "J" View attachment 669102 View attachment 669103 View attachment 669104 View attachment 669105 View attachment 669106

Just finished cleaning up some of my favorite backcountry tools and thought I'd share a photo. Not much I can't accomplish out in the bush with this combo...
